Individuals are going into their payment methods and changing the information from their own bank routing number and account number, to routing numbers belonging to the Federal Reserves, as well as other government agencies that the routing number can be found on the internet. These same individuals use their social security number as their account number along with government agency routing numbers to purchase items on eBay using PayPal. I stopped a transaction last week by reporting the buyer to both PayPal and EBay where she attempted to purchase a 4 ct. diamond tennis bracelet costing almost $5,000.00. That is just the tip of the iceberg. That particular posted a youtube video of her transaction under her real name. The video has since been removed. Others just make comments that they are using this method to make purchases or transfer $. There are bulletins on both the Federal Reserve Bank of NY and also the FBI site regarding this scam. I encourage PayPal to delete all routing numbers associated with Federal Reserve Banks, Treasury Dept., Social Security, Bureau of Public Debt or any others linked to the government, from their data base of routing numbers.
