To see all of the available information, click on a transaction in your Activity when you are logged on to your PayPal account. This displays the Details Page, and it shows who the payment was sent to, the payment method, notes (if any), and other details. This may help you recognize the payment.
If the payment was part of a Billing Agreement (a type of Pre-Approved Payment), it could be the merchant made a mistake. The best approach in this situation is to contact the merchant to let them know and ask for a refund. If that doesn't get results, you may need to submit a dispute to PayPal. If you still don't recognize the purchase, it may be best to change the Password and Security Questions on your PayPal account and report the transaction as unauthorized so PayPal can investigate.
