BEWARE the NIGERIAN Paypal scam... here's an example...

The message below is what I rec'd after agreeing to sell a camera on kijiji to someone... obviously it's the old Nigerian scam, so I am not about to follow through... until now this scammer communicated via text about the camera and payment and offered to pay the full $400 for the camera plus shipping... as you can see he said he'd ultimately pay $500 and in the texts he stated that he was also in a very BIG hurry because it was an urgent present for a BELOVED daughter who would be travelling soon... yeah, sure... I am NOT shipping anything to Nigeria and I am NOT EVER shipping anything BEFORE money is deposited into my account...

NEVER PAID USING WESTERN UNION/MONEYGRAM/Telegraphic Transfert/Webmoney/Bitcoin.

All those method are not insured and once money is gone to nigeria or china scammer. It's too late!

Always paid with a Credit Card/Debit Card or a PayPal account or use escrow.com(visa/mastercard/amex)

Escrow.com is good for high value amount(2000-50000$) payment as seller never get the money until the buyer confirm the reception of the order and that everything is correct. Buyer then confirm the order and fund are proceeded to seller bank account.

Once order is confirmed by the buyer, the money is sent to the seller bank account and there is no way to get it back.

Please be sure that your order is correct before confirming an escrow order.

PayPal payment are very good for amount between(1-2000$). The only disadvantage compared to escrow is that seller will get your money as soon as you paid your order and will be able to withdraw it if order is outside of eBay. That's why I suggest order over 2000$ to be proceeded trought escrow.

My husband is trying to sell a guitar on Kijiji, and got a text from a fella saying he wanted this shipped to Ohio, gave him our paypal account email address, and then we recieved this email.......

We want to inform you that the sum of $800.00 USD money has been deducted from your buyer's account but will not be credited into your account until we receive the information or prove that the said amount of ($150.00 USD) which the buyer added to the payment made into your account  has been  sent out to the Mover via Western Union,if any question reply to  EMAIL ADDRESS WITHHELD - GMAIL ADDRESS

I am a new paypal user, had camera advertised in kjiji, I got exactly same letter you show here, I trusted it because it was from PayPal. He sent an approval for the tracking number and then sent an approval for the verification, telling me the amount will be deposited into my account within five working days. A day later, he asked to buy another item I made on kjiji, as thinking everything went ok I sold it to him, he again sent a confirmation that the tracking number received and to be verified within 17 hours. Then after, not anything received, neither verification or money deposit in my paypal account. As I am for the first time selling items on kjiji and using paypal,I got the scam easily and this iwill be the last time in my life using them to sell things again.

I messaged the scammer telling him that PayPal did not verify the tracking number since yesterday, do you know if there is a problem. He just replied saying: I have also mailed them I believe they will be looking into the verification in crediting your account soonest, ok. A manner not any one would believe that he is lying or scamming.
