Redirect Loop

I am trying to access the Wallet.  I can get into Account History just fine.  Anytime I attempt to access Summary or any other tab for that matter, I get a redirect loop message.  I have already deleted cookies and history as well as tried incognito mode in Chrome.  Tried in Firefox and IE and still same message.

I am now having this issue. I can get to my History and Profile just fine, but I can't actually manage anything in My Account, Summary or Wallet. Every PC/OS/Browser, with or without Cookies/Cache cleared.

After hours sitting at the computer I have a work around for myself using firefox.

It seems to be a security issue. I downloaded the paypal official app to my HTC and logged in via that. I registered and activated phone log in on my account. This is instead of asking you extra security questions on log-in they send a code to your phone which you enter. BAM! I'm in. I now have access to money without issues.

I tried it on IE and crome, but I wasnt getting the txt msgs to my phone via those browsers. That meant I had to answer security questions to log in which ended in redirect loop again. This means I know the problem is still there.

As long as I keep my phone on my I can access my money.

I got everything working again after I disabled the Security Key (my phone) that I had recently set up and activated. Apparently the issue may have been because of a recent Paypal update that forces some users to log in TWICE, hence the redirect loop error claiming too many redirects. Someone summed up his experience in this thread:

https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/About-Business/I-m-being-forced-to-login-twice-every-time-from-e...

"It has gotten to the point its different 33% of the time:

  • 1/3 of the time I have to log in twice and im in.
  • 1/3 of the time i get caught in a log in loop between 2 different looking login pages. I have to pull up a different page in my history when that happens. (i feel this is the worst of em all)
  • 1/3 of the time I have to log in a couple times (different looking log in pages, sometimes not) but this time I get the old version of the backend and have to click around before I am eventually taken to the new panel (I do like the new control panel so much)"

In my case the redirect loop was 100% of the time instead of only a third of the time. So for anyone with two factor authorization set up in Paypal, disabling your security key may help. Which really sucks and may not be worth it for you.

I was getting the security codes from all browsers, but when I tried sending money I still got the redirect loop message. The problem was solved by deleting my security key from my account. Now I'm less secure, but I fund my PayPal account using a low balance debit card anyway so I think I'm pretty safe.

Hi all

i had the same issue and found a sort of temp work around.

background - I've had nothing but issues with using the added security code feature and in the past I've had to remove the extra code input step from my security settings to allow me to link my ebay account IOS app's to my paypal/ (the app stupidly doesnt even have a 'send code via SMS' button so its impossible to add the code within the IOS app! it constantly usut demands it...

anyway solution - I was recieveing the same error as other after attempting to log in using email and password and then follwing that entering my SMS 6 digit security code via the second add security step page. each time i would be confronted with the redirect loop error. I attempted log ins via my paypal app, my IOS ebay app (ihone and ipad) and my mac chrome and safari browsers. I cleared my cookies but didnt help.

I spent hours reading forums and eventurally gave up so made an attempt to contact paypal. I searched for the contact details of paypal and found this link https://www.paypal.com/selfhelp/home

Just before i went to actually raise my issue throygh the contact link i noticed that i was actually logged into my account within the above page. (look at th etop right of the page, it will/may show the 'log out' button, whch obviously means your logged in.

Next to the log out button is the settings button. click this, go into settings, then into security settings and remove your security key (yes i know, we added this to imrpove safety and security to stop thieves abusing paypals poor security but sadly its the route of most log in issues and has been for over 4 years!)

Once the additional  security key step was removed i was able to log in fine. (downside is no added security measure....) but at least you can make a payment or access your well earned funds!

I then linked my IOS devices back up fine and was able to make my ebay purchase. Anytime the IOS devices drop my log in details/link i always have to remove my added security step, link the devices and then go back into paypal to re add the additional security step.

you should be able to re add the security step and access account again. If you then have the issues again post re-adding the security step then i will leave the decision to you whether you remove it permanently

I'm also seeing this issue. So it sounds like I'm going to have to remove the SMS 2FA from my account to login fully on the web. And do this any time I want to, putting it back afterwards for the actual security it adds. Paypal, you do have engineers looking at this issue, yes? You're going to fix it, yes ?

Been having same problem for a few days.  Not even able to login from home page.  If I search google for paypal and then bring up a random page that I can log into I am able to login.  I am unable to do much once logged in though.  Going to disable security I guess since I have never been able to use the paypal app on android with security enabled.

Where's all the people at paypal who should be able to fix this???

Thanks to this tread I found a solution that worked for me. Problem was the security key (double auth with mobile)

After u logged in and have been redirected to timeout page, put in this adress into your browser.

https://www.paypal.com/webapps/customerprofile/summary.view

In my case this is my main settingspage. Here you can go into security settings and deactivate mobile auth.

Hope this helps.
