Remove Linked Email

I want PayPal to remove the link to my email from an account.

My email is linked to an PayPal account that is NOT mine.

I am not the account owner or associated with the account.

It is NOT the primary email for that account.

I've had no dealings with the account for more than 15 YEARS.

An email to PayPal resulted in a reply to call customer service.

The told me that the link could not be removed without the account owner's permission. No alternative contact or process was provided. Owner's identity cannot be provided due to privacy restrictions.

I asked to speak with a supervisor, the rep would NOT connect me.stating they couln't do anything either.

I was also told that if the account owner died, locked, etc., that the email was never going to be unlinked.

This implies that an entity has rights to keep my email even though I have no obligations to them.

Because of this, I cannot open my own account.

PayPal has not been at all helpful

A work around isn't the answer and does nothing address the issue.

How could your current email get linked to another person's PayPal account?

Were you the owner of that PayPal account 15 years ago?

How long have you had your current email address?

I ran a website for a local club. I was never the owner of the account nor the primary email address. The club was the owner. I left the club when I moved from the area. With personell changes, account login info was lost and the account has remained dormant and unused for about 15-16 years.

I've had my current email since 1999.

So, you were responsible for adding the email to that club account?  Is that correct?

You will need to contact the person responsble for that account to remove the email address.

15+ years ago? I don't remember. I didn't even know it was there. Besides, what does it mattter?

When the person isn't available (moved away, dead, ect.), this is not possible and why I posted in the first place as stated in the original post. What to do when this isn't possible is what I'm asking.

You have already been told that...........your only option is to open a new paypal account with a new email address.
