Hi! I am new to paypal, and for whatever reason, my account won't let me add anymore funds to my PayPal balance, it gives me an error message similar to "there was a problem adding funds to your balance" and to contact PayPal with the problem. I have sent then an email, but would like to see if I could get a quicker response here, thank you!

Can i ask first why you are adding funds to your balance, you do know that as a buyer there is no need do you??

Secondly what funding sources do you have linked to your paypal account.

OK well if you are a buyer you never need funds in your paypal account balance to buy stuff.

Paypal will take it directly from your funding source ie bank account or card.

BUT as they normally credit the seller in advance and take the wait for your funds to transfer from your funding source they like you to have a back up card linked and verified to your paypal account.

You can still fund from your bank  account OR you can click on "change" during the payment process and select your card instead.

So to sum up check that >>

1. You have verified your email address.

2. You have confirmed your bank account with the 4 digit code.

3. You have a back up card linked and confirmed to paypal.

Then go and pay and see if it goes through ok this time.

FACEPALM!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm getting SICK AND TIRED of the people who keep giving this answer without really reading the question!

When you send money privately, to a family member etc., you cannont make INSTANT transfers from your bank account, it takes up to a week for some reason unless you have the money already in your paypal account. The only way to make an INSTANT payment, with a zero paypal balance is to use a card, and then you get CHARGED. I have to pay my boyfriend 650.00 a month and it costs me 20 extra dollars PER MONTH to do this because I keep getting the same error message and no one in customer service can answer the question. They keep saying the same thing you do, "You don't need a balance to transfer money... blah blah..." and the point is that YOU DO if you need to send money instantly and don't want to be charged a draconian fee each time. HOW DO YOU FIX THE ERROR MESSAGE?????????????????????????????????????

I'm getting the same message, and pretty much the same answer from everyone.

When I called customer service, I was told that you have to have the account for 30 days before you can make a deposit.

Well, I've now had the account longer than that.  I'm beginning to wonder if I need to find another place to do my business.  Constant run around and no help.

PayPal customer services does not seem to  know what they are doing and I am wondering if this is because they reside overeseas. No prjedice intended. I neeed to book a flight to Dallas to see my mom before she died. I went to a payment center $500 cash and PayPal would not let me. So I couldn't go and my mom died. Since I was giving PayPal cash I don't understand what the problem is. They send me a mastercard but it is no good for emergencies. PayPal is getting too big for their britches. Are there any other companies I can turn to. Please advise

I'm having the same issue. My PayPal "balance" is going to hold my fantasy leagues dues until it's time to pay out. I ran into the issue of it not letting me pay for something with my bank when I had a balance (I could use the balance then use my bank for the remainder but not my bank for the whole thing). So I said whatever and went to replace the money... And now it's giving me that same error.
