Paypal app (Android) and security key login problems.

Hi,

I installed the Paypal Android app and then tried to login with my credentials. However the loging was denied and I the error message instructed to append the security code from the keyfob to the password. I did that and still cannot login. To illustrate this is what I did:

Userid: abcdef

Password: password123456

where 123456 has been generated on the security keyfob at the time of entering the password.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a known issue. Just for info, I use a very complex password with special characters. I am using Nexus One with Gingerbread. Btw, the same problem has been there before Gingerbread was rolled out on Android handsets.

This is very frustrating so any useful help and pointer would be appreciated.

Cheers.

I have exactly the same issue.

type in userid and password, and I get told to append the security key details at the end of the password.  Type in userid and password+security key.

"There's been a problem logging in, please visit us"

Most frustrating, as it worked on my iPhone ... but now, not on android.

Hi guys,

There has been some issues recently with customers who are trying to activate the Android app on their mobile phones. It is a technical issue with your security key and when you are trying to activate your Android app.

If you have a physical security key, I would advise that you try contacting customer services in order to see if there is anything that we can do to assist you further. If you are using a mobile security key that would consist of us sending a text message to you any time you are trying to login, you can go to your account and temporarily disable this and it could assist you with being able to activate the Android app on your phone.

I hope this information helps,

David.

David,

I'm confused. Are you saying there is *no* way to use Android PayPal App with two way authentication?

Thanks,

I meant two factor authentication.

Well, I've just had the requirement to use the Paypal Mobile Application, and I still couldn't login.

So I followed David's instructions above and called Customer Services.

The response I got was:

"If using Android or iPhone applications, then refer back to Android Market or iTunes App Store respectively to report problems.  PayPal do not write nor support the application.  Paypal WILL assist if there is a problem making a payment however."

So for us having issues logging in, we are stuffed.

I've downloaded the PayPal App for my iPhone.

At login I'm asked to add the number on my security key to the end of my password to login (this is on the Password tab).

I don't have a security key and don't intend to buy one.

I've tried requesting SMS codes and using them but it doesn't work.

Also have tried logging in on the PIN tab but don't know what my PIN is or how to request one.

Please help

I had the same response when trying to log in via my android phone.

This is how I think I got mine to work.

When I  log in via PC I also used the option to sent a  pin to my mobile which I then used as additional security to complete the log in process - this I think was what was causing the problemin my case

When I removed this security option I was then able to log in using my email address and password via the Paypal app.

My problem is that I cannot log in using my phone number and PIN

(the PIN has been set up and works on the mobile website)

Hope the above is some use

Getting Paypal on your Android mobile phone.

Firstly using your PC make sure you have set up -  paypal on your mobile, click link below for instructions.

https://www.paypal-marketing.co.uk/mobile/index.htm

After you have linked your phone to your paypal account do the following;

1) download paypal app via your android phone

2) At secure login there is two tabs - PASSWORD..or....PIN

3) use the PIN tab.  You will now see your mobile number, now enter the pin you have created using the link above.

Thats it, your done.

Here is the solution:

  1. Log into PayPal via the web on your PC
  2. Go to your Profile page (where you can edit your details)
  3. Locate the Phone section and select to update
  4. Add your Mobile number that you wish to use.
Note: If your number is already registered, just add the Mobile again and/or remove the existing one.
  5. Go through the Mobile phone regristration process and create a PIN.
  6. Once registered, try again to log into your PayPal app on your Mobile phone.
Login using the Mobile number and PIN.

Hope this helps anyone else in the future.
