Has anyone else here received a scam e-mail saying that a Paypal payment has been sent to Sportsdirect.com? I received one today saying that a payment of £48.99 had gone from my account. It had a postal address in Malta. It asked me to click on a link if I hadn't made the payment (I didn't click it for safety reasons). I've checked my account and the money hasn't come out of it (yet?).
Paypal please advise me. Thank you.

Hi there alrightmate and spittingfeather,
Welcome to the UK Community Forum!
You’re both right in saying the emails you received are not from PayPal! If you ever receive an email that you are suspicious about, please forward it to spoof@paypal.com so we can investigate it and confirm if it a non-genuine email.
When PayPal contact you by email, we always address you “Dear First name Last name”. Be wary of emails with generic greetings, such as “Dear PayPal Member/Customer”. Also the information contained in genuine emails from PayPal will match what is happening in your PayPal account exactly, so if it is claiming that a payment has been made, log into your PayPal account separately to the email and check your transaction history. Another thing to note is that we rarely include links or attachments in our emails, so if an email is urging you to click on a link to report an unauthorised transaction or to supply personal information it is more than likely a non genuine email.
I hope this helps!
Maria

I have tried to buy sports gear from Sports Direct four times and all I get is cancelled orders. The last time I used Paypal and the money has come out of my bank account but Sports Direct have cancelled the order again. Not happy. Is this, and its other outlets, JJBsports, Field & Trek just fronts to harvest CC details? Verrrrry suspicious!
