TouchID fails, always makes me enter password

PayPal iOS app TouchID is not working anymore (it used to).  Whenever I use the TouchID, it pops up a red bar at the top of the app and says I have to use my password.  I have re-enabled TouchID several times in the app but it never works.  This used to work just fine, but stopped working correctly about a month ago (August/September time frame).

Welcome to the community forum and thanks for posting.

 

The TouchID utilises the fingerprint technology on iOS devices as a log in method to the PayPal Consumer App. If after re-enabling the TouchID it still does not work, I would suggest that you uninstall the App and install it again.

Me too and it is driving me absolutely freakin' bats...

Funny thing was it was working fine for months. Then, as I was working on some stuff on my account, had adjusted some settings for a minute or two in the 'Login and Security' section, setting it back to use TouchID afterwards and ever since then it has asked me for my password 7 out of 8 times that I (attempt) to log in . 

It's badly affecting the functionality of using this for business stuff, the whole flow of doing biz things, grabbing phone and quickly logging in with touchID to check a payment or details etc, or even using PayPal HERE card reader, is now thoroughly crippled. Spastically fannying about putting in my password (nice and secure, so I continually hit a wrong key) is just degrading the whole experience - and killing my professionalism in front of clients!

PayPal please, please, PLEASE resolve this issue - there is obviously a bug within the App, it's configuration or authentication if this many people are reporting this... and there's probably a million others affected by it.

Same for me on iOS 11. Every time I try to login with touch ID it still requires my pin or password. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the PayPal app. Deactivated and reactivated touch ID and pin. I’m not even going to blame PayPal yet, because my life has been hellacious since iOS 11 came around.

I'm having a similar issue on the Galaxy Note 8. It's accepting my fingerprint AND THEN requires my password!

I have same problem, it is very annoying.  After using touch ID the red bar comes at the top and I still have to type password.  I disabled and re-enabled touch ID and reinstalled the app and still have the problem.  It has been this way for months now, please fix

Same here. I think it has something to do with 2FA. You could offer app passwords or authenticate the app via a token.
