Making a Credit Card Primary Funding Source

Morning all,

At the moment my bank account is the primary funding source for my paypal transactions.

I also have a credit card linked to the account as the back up funding source.

My problem is that I want to make the credit card the primary funding source and have the bank account as the back up funding option, is this possible?

Regards

Mike

Hi there Mikebass,

At this time, it isn't possible for a customer to make a credit/debit card the primary funding option on their transactions through their PayPal account.

When you use PayPal to send money, we always attempt to take the funds from your PayPal account balance first. If you have no PayPal balance, or not enough to cover the whole transaction, the remainder will be taken from your bank account. If you don’t have a bank account confirmed with PayPal, your debit or credit card will be charged instead.

The payment method hierarchy is as follows:

1. PayPal Balance.
2. Instant Bank Transfer.
3. Credit or Debit Card.
4. eCheque.

The default payment method cannot be changed on your account but can be changed per transaction. To change the payment method for a transaction, click the 'Change' or 'More Funding Options' link on the final page during the Send Money process and select a different payment method.

Note: Once the payment is sent, you cannot change your payment method.

I hope this information helps,

David

Well would you please make this option available?

I manage my money by paying for everything monthly via credit card for the extra protection then pay the credit card off at the end of every month from normally my bank but sometimes my savings account if I need.

This way I incure no interest charges and cannot go overdrawn in my bank. I have used this method for over 20 years.

So why won't you make the option to make the credit card available as the primary payment.

Are you recommending we remove the instant bank transfer in order to make the credit card the primary funding option.

You see, I for one will never ever use the bank tranfer as the primary funding option and have to "change payment option" on every transaction. Paypal is deliberating making it more difficult to choose the credit card as the primary source by adding this extra layer.

So I ask again :

Will Paypal please allow us to select the credit card as the primary funding source in Profile, My Money instead of having to manually change on every transaction

I look forward to your reply

Al
