Hey everybody!
Join the PayPal Community Forums moderation team in our semi-weekly Community Q&A on Wednesday, November 28th, from 1-2 pm PT (4-5 pm ET).
Our moderator staff will be here to answer your questions regarding PayPal. This thread will remain locked until the Q&A is open, so if you have a question you'd like to see answered by the community before then, please feel free to post a topic by clicking on "Post a Topic" and selecting the appropriate board. As always, PayPal customer service can be reached by clicking on "Contact Us" and selecting help via phone or email.
How Community Q&A works:
The Q&A opens at 1 pm PT. Once the Q&A is open, PayPal Community members may participate and ask questions by using the "Reply to topic" button.
In order to post in the Q&A, you must be a PayPal Community member. If you'd like email updates on the Q&A, click the "Options" menu and select Subscribe.
During the Q&A, PayPal Moderators will answer general PayPal questions in real-time.
At 2 pm PT, the Q&A will close and lock. Any questions that have not yet been responded to by a moderator or employee will receive a response within the following hour.
Please feel free to RSVP to the Q&A by clicking "Me too" at the bottom of this post. See you then!

Hello! Paypal seems like the go-to place for political fundraising. I have a single issue that I am raising money for, so I need to collect the donor "Occupation" and "Employer" in addition to their address (FEC/state law). How do I tell paypal to collect that when they hit the donate button?
Thank you!

Hi @M_Bison,
The donate button that can be created through PayPal is a very basic tool. For other options provided by PayPal for collecting donations, please take a look at this site and for information specific to accepting donations for political campaigns, please take a look at this site. To require certain kinds of information in order to receive a donation, you may have to look into third party tools that can be integrated with a PayPal account, some of which are linked at the site found by following my second link.
I hope this helps!

The first site is about 501(c)3s, which I am not, and the second site is actually the exact page I started at. I walked through the steps it provided until I got to the "create a donate button" page, which was missing the option I need.
On the donate button is a section called "custom HTML". Perhaps the secret is in there?

Hi @M_Bison,
I'm sorry for any confusion. If you look below the information about donate buttons, there are some services listed which offer a suite of options that the donate button does not have. Alternatively, you can visit the Merchant Integration Technical Support Community to ask for assistance with the technical aspects of creating custom solutions on your site for collecting information.

Hello Oliver
I want to integrate PayPal as a payment option on my website. I initially set up the Buy Now button but it does not meet what I want. My site is a freelance homework help and so, a client sets a price they are willing to pay. This price should be set on my website. Once it is set and the client clicks pay now, they should be directed to PayPal to complete the payment.
For the Buy Now button, I was advised to leave the price section blank so that the client can set it there. However, I want the setting up to be on my site. I however haven't found enough information on how to go about this
Thanks

Hi @BKariuki,
Thanks for attending our Q&A today. In this case, your question would best be answered by visiting our Merchant Technical Support community, as questions with integration on your website and specific buttons are answered there. Hopefully they're able to help! 🙂

Hi if I upgrade to a business account and want to send and receive money from friends and family should I give them my business name as well as my new business email? I think they will now only see the name of my business and not my actual name in their transaction history? Thanks.
Hey @debsbigcloset,
Great question - you can provide anyone sending you a payment (personal or business-related) any confirmed email connected to your PayPal account. When the payment is sent, it will show in the sender's account as a payment to your business name, even if it is a personal payment.
