How to send gift to another country?

I want to send my relative some gift.  Is it possible to add gift adress in another country?

Hi there Nooferd,

There should be no problem if you try and send a gift to a relative in another country. What you need to do is click the 'Send Money' tab on your PayPal account and then type in their email address. You should then select the payment type as 'Gift'. By doing this, the receipient should receive the payment with no problems .

Thanks David!  I am sorry my question wasn't clear enough because of my english. 

I would like to purchase something from ebay, keyboard silicone skin to be exact, and send it as a birthday gift to my relative in Thailand.

But when I add gift address, it only let me add address in the States.  I read thru all the post and many had the same problem.  I do understand paypal reasoning for not allowing that but I really wish there could be a way to do so.

Some suggested asking the seller to ship them to another country.  Or, I could just have it send to me and pay extra post to send it to Thailand myself.

Hey there nooferd,

I understand now, you want to add a gift address on so you can have the actual item sent to Thailand.

With PayPal it can only be a UK address, however, on eBay you can now add a gift address in other countries.

So when you’re placing your bid and goin through the process to make payment, while still on the eBay site you will be shown the postal address so you can make sure it’s still correct. It’s on this page that you can alter the address and input an alternative address.

I am astonished to now find out that I cannot have an item bought on eBay sent to another country. This seems bizarre. So much for international commerce and trade!

The problem is that the ebay seller only send to my verified UK address, but I want it sent to another address, which is in Malaysia.

This doesn't seem to be a problem on thousands of websites that acknowledge that there may be a difference between  billing address and delivery address.

Can somebody kindly help me out here. i very much hope that you will tell me that I am wrong, and that of course it can be done (and tell me how, too!!)

Hi again Olim,

This may be a setting that your seller has selected when they were listing the item for sale through their eBay account. When they are doing this, they can limit to only posting the item within the UK. This may also be why you are unable to have the item shipped directly to Thailand.

I will advise that you should try contacting your seller in order to see if they can update their listing so that you can have the item posted to Thailand if you wish to proceed with the purchase.

Worse than this is that I cannot get through to PayPal that I want to send something to me in a different country. I spend almost half the year in Thailand and Paypal neither allows me to submit my Thai address as an alternative or additional address, nor does it allow me to send a "gift' to me. Regardless of a vendors willingness to deliver where I want - not where Paypal wants . As soon as I submit my password to enter Paypal to confirm payment via Paypal, Paypal turfs me. 

Oh, and forget about "Contact Us" useless.

I have the same problem, and asking a seller to change their shipping arrangements is not practical. Many products sold on eBay cannot be easily shipped. Even if it could be delivered to Hong Kong, that would not be useful if I want to give it as a gift to someone in the UK. 

I'm in Hong Kong, I want to bid on a product that's for sale in the UK and to have it delivered to an address in the UK. eBay won't even let me bid on the product because Paypal won't let me add a UK delivery address.

I have the same problem. Paypal will simply not allow you to change the shipping address. It was cute how a paypal employee tried to help on the forum but unfortunately just passed the buck. There is no need to be dishonest. The fact is, you are not allowed to put an alternative shipping address to another country for paypal and the paypal system locks this ability but disallowing the user to change the country. There is no option, My country is set to United States and there is no drop down menu that exists that allows me to change this. Maybe in 2015 I am hoping this fundamental upgrade happens.

If I was to send an amount of Euros to a friend in Europe, will they get the exact amount I specify or will they have to pay a fee?

What confuses me is that the "Send" specifies friends and family in the "UK", so I am wondering if sending abroad is different, perhaps incurring a fee to the receiver??
