Hi nkahnke,
Thank you for posting and welcome to the Community Forum!
I’m sorry to hear about the challenge with updating your expired card.
In this situation you will need to go to your Pre-approved payments section on your PayPal account and manually update the card which is used as a funding source.
You can find your Pre-approved payments section using this instruction:
- Log in to your PayPal account.
- Click the 'Settings' icon at the top of the page.
- Click Payments.
- Under 'Manage Upcoming Payments', click Pre-approved Payments.
- Use the filter to select the seller whose agreement you want to display.
- Display the funding source to update it.
- Confirm your request.
If you need further assistance, I would recommend you calling PayPal Customer Services by clicking onto Contact us on any PayPal page as they will be able to review your account and provide you with the best course of action.
We also provide support via Social Media (24/7). You can contact us directly on Twitter @AskPayPal or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/PayPalUK.
Hope it helps.
Anna

- Go to www.paypal.com and log in to your account.
- Click ‘Profile’ near the top of the page.
- Click ‘Add/Edit Credit Card.’
- You will see a list of your registered debit and credit cards. Beside the card you wish to change Click ‘edit’ or 'remove credit/debit card'
Personally, I actually had to remove my debit card cause i closed the account then add another one, my new card.
