Payment to Chinese supplier - worried about fraud/scam

Hi all,
Yesterday I transferred quite a large sum of money to a Chinese supplier for some goods. I found the company via the alibaba.com market place website. The supplier is rated as a 'gold' and 'trusted' supplier of 2 years. However I am slightly dubious and concerned for a couple of reasons:-
1) AliBaba.com - although this supplier verified - is it easy for a supplier to become verified via fake 3rd party companies?
2) The communications were instant from the supplier up until payment...smooth and well mannered. But now payment has been sent (and completed) the replies are no longer happening. I'm hoping this is to do with the Chinese working patterns and not a scam. I called the phone number provided and it rung and there was an answer so I hung up.
My question(s) is this:-
If this turns out to be a scam, do I have any chance of reclaiming all of my money?
Is there any way of verifying the supplier's paypal email address for fraudulent history?
Thanks

Gosh you are a lot braver than me. Whilst you may get the goods the quality may not be what you expect to go by the posts that appear on here.
You are covered for non receipt of goods but must make sure you file within 45 days of payment, if they try and delay you file anyway as you can always cancel it if the goods arrive and if they arrive and are misdescribed you can contact paypal and change the dispute to received but not as described.
HOWEVER to be honest cus its an international transaction and you would not be able to prove with a tracking number that the seller recevied the goods back again there is a possibility that paypal would not find in your favour.
I may be being sceptical but i don't work for paypal and only advise as i see things from being on this and the ebay boards.
Paypal will not tell you anything about the sellers dispute history.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
