Sending money to a mobile number

Hi I've never sent money to a mobile number before but they guy I want to pay doesn't have an email address. I've done a test payment of £1 to my husband and he's had a message to say he's received it from me but it isn't showing anywhere and says unclaimed on my account. Does anyone know what the person who receives the money needs to do to claim it?? Thanks D

I have the same problem.  I've had my PayPal account for 12 years without any issues.  Someone has just sent a payment to my mobile number but I have not had a text, or email or anything.  My mobile is linked to my account.  The sender has checked and confirmed it is the right number.  Yet the money shows as unconfirmed at her end...  Please could you advise?

Welcome to our Community and thank you for posting.

 

In order to receive a Payment that has been send through PayPal the receiver of the money need to set up a PayPal account and confirm the email address. If you send a payment to a person who does not have an account with us we will send an email or a message to the receiver of the money. They then need to open a PayPal account on an email address and they can claim the payment. When the payment is claimed the money will be added to their PayPal balance and they can either withdraw this to their bank or use it to send another payment.

 

If the payment was sent through your app the receiver needs to download the PayPal App as well in order to claim the payment. They can link their phone number to their PayPal account and claim the money.

 

As the person who you sent money to do not have an active account yet the payments shows unclaimed.

I am sorry to hear this. I am thinking only reason can be the phone number that the funds sent to is not confirm on PayPal system. Please try below info:

 

After you add your mobile number to your PayPal account, you can confirm it if you'd like. With a confirmed mobile number, you can:

 

  • Use text messages to get your balance and send or request money
  • Automatically get money into your Paypal account when it's sent to your mobile number
  • Log in faster with your PIN instead of having to type your password on your mobile phone

Here's how to confirm your mobile phone number after you've added it to your PayPal account:

 

  1. We'll send you a text message with a confirmation code. Enter the code.
  2. Click Confirm phone.

If you're confirming your mobile number at a later time after adding it, just log into your PayPal account, click Profile near the top of the page, and then click Update beside 'Phone'. Click Confirm near the number you want to confirm and then follow the above instructions to complete the process.

Hi I have been sent a payment to my mobile number which is a comfirmed number. But I still can't see payment and the text link doesn't work either. It's showing on my payee side as unclaimed Can u tell me how am I supposed to claim this please 😄

If the transaction shows as ‘Unclaimed’ on your payee’s account it suggests that the phone number is not verified. I would suggest your payee to cancel the transaction and send the money to your confirmed email address.

Dear Paypal, 

I was selling items to someone through craigs list and they wanted to pay using Paypal. I provided my phone number for them to send the money to and at first they accidentally entered it in wrong. They quickly cancelled the payment on their end and entered my correct phone number to send the money. In this instance I did recieve the funds but it made me wonder how can I prevent someone from sending the funds and then cancelling it a few minutes later once they have left with their goods? When the money was sent via the phone number I didn't see any options for me to claim the money.

I just sent a $30.00 PayPal credit to a customer (via cell phone number) from the PayPal website. How can I check on the status of that?

Hi rickj1,

 

Welcome to the Community forum!

 

You should be able to see the $30 payment in your transaction history and alongside it you'll see it's 'status'. If it isn't completed yet, you can click on details and see the reason for it.

I sent $250 to my sisters number she got the text messege but payment whent to a diffrent persons paypal who I believe had her number before her payment says claimed and I canot cancel the phone number is the same on this other persons account but is the phone number she has now how do I get my money back it was sent as friends & family
