How to Handle Accidental Refund? Can Buyer Cancel Refund?

I just issued a refund in the full amount instead of 10% partial refund I agreed to with the buyer.  The buyer is shady so I'm afraid they won't return the funds in if they don't I have no way of getting them back since its an e-check not a credit card payment.  PayPal wouldn't cancel the refund and buyer claims they have no way to cancel, which makes sense since its an ACH transaction, even though I called PayPal minutes after, I'm not suprised you can't cancel an ACH (e-check).  Is the best thing for me to do to protect myself to issue a stop payment on PayPal transactions with my bank?  The credit card associated with the account doesn't have enough funds on it so it should get denied if PayPal goes that route as a backup.

My main question is, will I get a negative account balance and then have PayPal on my **bleep** to pay them, or after failing the e-check and credit card will they just mark the payment as denied/cancelled/etc so I can the in a few days resend the refund with the correct amount?
