Sold a fake diamond ring

I bought a diamond ring from a seller for £1375 and when I received it I took it to my local jeweller to have it resized as it was too big. On picking up the ring from the jeweller it was remarked by the jeweller that the diamond could be a Moissanite stone and not diamond. I was shocked by this statement and contacted the seller who said she was out of the country and wouldn't be back for a few weeks but would look out the evidence of the valuation of the ring. I wasn't prepared to wait on this seller to get back to me and so I took the ring to another independent jeweller and asked their opinion on the ring. They sent the ring to a Hatton Garden diamond specialist and 10 days later I got the dreaded news that the ring was indeed a fake diamond, a Moissanite signifantly less money than the £1375 I had paid in good faith.
To cut a long story short I contacted Ebay to take up my case with the seller, who incidentally does not have proper contact details. After much conversation via email with Ebay and my sending them proof of the fact that the ring was a fake, I have just received an email tonight telling me that they have found in favour of the seller because I had the ring altered!
I am upset by this decision as of course I had the ring resized, I wanted to wear the ring. The seller by the way has also accused me of swapping the ring for a fake ring! She has also sold similar rings to another seller which also turned out to be the same Moissanite stone and not diamond.
Can someone tell me what I should do now, I have no contact details and have Ebay to supply them to me. They have told me that I should put in a claim with my credit card company but obviously they will want full details fo the seller's address. Her address is just listed as Cambridge, Essex! so the geography is all wrong there.
Any advice would be much appreciated as I feel frustrated and disgusted that the seller has got away with this scam.
Thank you.

Hi Mav56,
I am sorry to hear the experience you have had. When a claim for an item significantly not as described is opened and accepted the item must be in its original condition in order to be returned. If the item is altered in any way then the case must be denied.
I would suggest at this point that you consider contacting your local police station for further assistance. If they wish to investigate on your behalf they can contact us directly as once we verify that they are a police officer we can provide them with the requested information.
I hope this helps
Paula
