have debit card linked but getting error message saying i need to link a debit or credit card

i haven't used my paypal in awhile but whenever i used to use it i would just pay with my debit card via etransfer, i try to purchase something like i normally would but now im getting the error message This merchant only accepts instant payments. To continue with this purchase, link a debit or credit card to your PayPal account Or choose other options below. and doesnt give me the option to select my debit card PLEASE HELP

If you haven't logged in for quite some time, it's possible the card that you registered has since expired.  I know you probably have a physical card that isn't expired, so that may not make immediate sense.

When you add a card to PayPal, we don't receive updates from your card company about the expiration date.  So, if it passes and it isn't updated by the account holder on PayPal, the card is removed.

I'd recommend checking your Profile link up top after logging in.  Just hover your mouse over the word Profile and select "Add or edit credit card."  This should take you to a list of any active cards.
