Repeated problems redeeming rewards voucher!!!

Last December, I requested a $100 rewards voucher and received this via email.  When I attempted to use it the first time, I was told by that merchant that they would not accept vouchers.  Then I was told by PayPal that the vouchers could only be used by merchants who accept vouchers.  When attempting to use it again and being refused by another merchant, I was then told by PayPal that it could be used only for Ebay purchases.  So, I then attempted to use it in July for concert tickets on Ebay - at this point, PayPal told me that the voucher was only allowed to be used during the month I purchased it!  None of  this information about any restrictions in the use or timing of use of a voucher was on the PayPal site at the time I ordered the voucher.  I have a copy of the voucher as evidence.  I would like someone in management at PayPal to review & investigate, and provide me with a new $100 voucher.  I feel as if I have been ripped off of my hard earned dollars by PayPal, and I experienced very poor customer service. Please have someone contact me about this.  I will not speak with yet another poorly trained customer service rep or supervisor - the 3 or 4 prior contacts concerning this problem did not provide a solution.

Yes, someone in management at PayPal was obviously listening this time!  Within 24 hours of posting my problem,  I received word that they were re-issuing the $100 voucher.  The squeaky wheel finally got the oil!

I had a lot of problems with redeeming them also.  Like you, I found out that most retailers don't accept these vouchers.  I then try buying $100 on ebay.  I read that on ebay I can combine purchases from different sellers and pay all at once.  So I went ahead and use buy-it-now from different vendors.  I proceeded to checkout and use the voucher code.  I had to entered it multiple times since it only took off one item at a time.  All seemed fine when I was checking out on EBAY.  BUT later, it only use the voucher on the first item I used the code on!!!!!!  So I got riped off!  Ebay told me I have to contact paypal and paypal said they can't do anything about it since I had already used the code.  I only used $50 of the $100.  SO, the second time around, I thought I was wiser and only bought things from one seller.  BUT NO, it still only took money off of one item!!!!  I was **bleep**.  I'm really considering cancelling this useless card.  Be very careful when using these voucher.

Hopefully, someone from PayPal Plus management will contact you and help with this.  Nothing wrong with insisting that they make it right!  The credit card business is highly competitive, and I'm sure that they don't want to lose good customers.

I read the fine print using the voucher for eBay purchases and it states it can only be used for one item. The same thing if you use it toward shipping cost, one item.  If you purchase a gift certificate that person can use it on several purchases.  I believe strongly that this should be changed.  We earned the points, we should be able to use the voucher to purchase multiple item.

i think i am having a similar problem but am having a very hard time finding answers. I received a paypal voucher for xmas that was purchased through a different website (zodee.com.au) , this voucher appears in my paypal account. I tried to redeem it on Ebay but it won't let me. Does this mean i can only redeem it on the website through which it was purchased? Is zodee.com the 'merchant' ?

Welcome to the boards!

This sounds like a gift certificate that is specific to one particular merchants website, rather than eBay or a "general purpose" voucher.  In order to redeem your gift certificate, a purchase would have to be made on that particular merchants website.  The other vouchers discussed above were specific to the PayPal Extras MasterCard, which have a wider range.

Hope this helps,

Adrian
