Beware of Noom

I entered a 14 day "free" trial with Noom. This is a smartphone-only app, and my LG phone is not close to new. After trying to load the app, I didn't think I was successful. At the beginning of the process, they asked for a $1.00 fee to cover the "free" trial. Since I never got the app to download to my phone (after trying for an hour) I gave up and felt I just wasted a dollar. 14 days later I receive notification from PayPal that Noom just collected $159 from my account. I filed a complaint with PayPal, but it was denied. They stated it was an authorized transaction. Not blaming PayPay at all, but I now filed a complaint with the credit card company I use for my account. In looking at the Better Business Bureau report on Noom, they are not accredited because of a pattern of financial concerns. There are more than 1500 complaints against Noom, and their score via the Better Business Bureau is a "D".  Has anyone else had a similar experience with Noom? If so, was there a way to recover my $159? Thanks.

It's sad to know that you are in that situation right now. We appreciate you letting us know what happened. So sorry to know that you lost the dispute case due to probably clear reason that it was authorised. Glad that your bank is helping you now. Be very extra careful when it comes to doing transactions online, there are some websites that were set up to lure potential scam victims. We are now willing to work together with your Bank to resolve your issue. You can always login online to our website www.paypal.com and check our contact us option for any assistance needed regarding your PayPal account.
