FRAUD CREATED BY PAYPAL USPS TRACKING NUMBER

I have opened a complaint in RESOLUTION DEPARTMENT.  They claim that THE ITEM HAS BEEN DELIVERED. I went to the USPS and asked where they delivered the package based on the TRACKING NUMBER.  USPS says that the TRACKING NUMBER provided by PAYPAL IS A FAKE. It has no deliver to address and thus could never be delivered. PAYPAL claims that the supplier provided enough proof to close the RESOLUTION.  I asked PAYPAL to provide a copy of the TRACKING NUMBER that shows where PICKED_UP and where DELIVERED.  They refuse to provide the document.  USPS says that PAYPAL is required to provide this PROOF so that USPS can BACK TRACK the package to seller.  AGAIN PAYPAL refuses to provide the information.  Am I now at a point where I must file a law suit, or USPS FRAUD?

Great to hear and thanks for sharing.

Do you have the number you called for the legal service?

“Call us today a[Removed. Phone #s not permitted]or contact us online for a free consultation. Located in Philadelphia, Chicago, New York, and San Francisco, we serve clients nationwide.” I called the above number and left voicemail. They called me the second day.

thanks for the quick response.

Paypal removed the phone number from your response.

But I think  saw another post mentioning the legal firm of Francis Mailman Soumilas for help with Paypal payment fraud.

Would it be the same?

The post office has no DOCUMENTS TO PROVIDE SINCE THE TRACKING NUMBER IS A FAKE. PAYPAL should PROVIDE ME WITH PROOF SHOWING SHIPPED FROM AND SHIPPED TO information.  AFTER ALL they DECLARED THEY HAVE PROOF OF DELIVERY.

Let us lawyer up and sue paypal. I am in the same boat as you. Paypal added a phony tracking number which shows the item is delivered in my zipcode but does not show the address.

Paypal is way over their head with online fraudulent sellers.

Many fake selling sites (many based in China) are using paypal as a money laundering platform. They even manage to create fake USPS shipments of empty boxes to a fake address in your ZIP cod area. That way if you use the tracking number on the USPS site it shows it has been delivered (but without showing the exact address it was shipped from and  delivered to). Even credit card companies are falling for it now. in such case you would have to go to the local post office to request copies of the scanned package label and exact delivery address to prove it was not delivered to your address. And it takes so much time to take care of this with long waiting time on the phone, just to be told you have to do a snail mail request to reopen your case, and then wait another couple of weeks for an answer... It is literally impossible to talk to a real human being at Paypal.

It has been going on for a long time and accelerated during COVID stay-at-home orders. The fact that companies like Paypal have not figured out a way to better protect their customers against such fraud is appalling. it is now very well documented on many blogs and this is blatant incompetency on their part. I hope this will end-up into a class action lawsuit as too many customer have been defrauded due to PayPal complacency  with their customers protection. They make it way too easy for the criminal sellers and way too hard for the buyers trying to defend themselves. Due to the high number of similar occurrences, Paypal is well aware of this issue and they are clearly not helping their customers as they should. they only come up with lousy excuses and put the blame back on the buyers.

Same exact issue. I just got the first denial. I’m contacting customer support tomorrow morning and I’m going to dispute it. I have RING setup as well as USPS Informed Delivery. Neither of them have a package with that tracking ID, not to mention no packages were scheduled for that day or the next 2-days. Also took screenshots of your posts to show that there is a precedent for this happening. We’ll see, I’m pretty good on the phone, so I will let you all know if I get results. 🤷‍♂️

This just happened to me, they apparently just scraped an existing Amazon shipping ID that they provided to pay pal when I created my dispute. I was able to contact Amazon and they confirmed the item was ordered by an account other than mine. Not sure if PayPal will accept it, but we shall see.

The scam is called tracking number spoofing. They were well aware of it, and told me they would look into it. If the address on the tracking number didn’t have my address then they would decide in my favor that day. Sure enough, that night the same agent called to confirm that it was overturned in my favor and the $ was returned to the card.
