Fraudulent transfer of over 20k through possibly account hacking. Advice needed

Hi everyone,

Today I noticed there were 2 Transfer transactions posted on PayPal that I completely did not authorize.  One transfer of 20k (which way exceeds my checking balance) and another transfer of 1000 Euro, both are to unknown accounts with unknown emails and were made yesterday. Today I checked my balance on my checking account and notice both the charges from PayPal, which led me to the above discovery. I have contacted the bank, file an Unauthorized Debit claim and they gave me back the money as temporary credit while they are investigating. I also have filed a dispute claim to PayPal for these transactions, however I couldn't get a hold of a live representative to speak about the issue.

What should I expect in this case? I already change my password and setup MFA for the account. I didn't gave anyone permission to access the account so the only reasonable explanation is someone hacking to my account and then made a transfer.

if you were hacked......

Click on the transaction in your paypal account and use the 'report a problem' link at the bottom to report it as unauthorised if that is what it was.

An unauthorised transaction means that your Paypal account was hacked and used without your consent.
If Paypal check IP addresses / devices etc and find that it was hacked then yes you should receive your refund.

I hope you changed your password and security questions?
I hope you ran a virus scan on your computer?
I would also be telling my card issuers and bank accounts company that the account was hacked so that they can keep an eye on your account OR remove the financial info involved until things are sorted.
