I ordered 4 items from HK SOWEWAY INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS CO., LIMITED, none of the items that came in were what I actually ordered.  All were weird in various ways however the most baffling was that I ordered a Putting Mat and what did I get but a singular golf ball (with no branding) and they charged me $19.90 USD for this - they also charged me close to $20.00 USD for shipping and handling.

The items were all fraudulent, not a situation that I decided I didn't like what they sent but out right fraud.  Now I have to pay to ship the items back to HK SOWEWAY INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS CO., LIMITED before a refund will be issued.

I bought from this company because they have a Pay Pal profile and now seeing all the complaints online about them I believe Pay Pal is enabling them to continue to scam customers as they have not cancelled HK SOWEWAY INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS CO., LIMITED account.

The account for HK SOWEWAY INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS CO., LIMITED should be suspended by Pay Pal.   I know if a company scams a credit card company that credit card company suspends their ability to do credit card charges, why isn't Pay Pal doing the same?

Shameful that a company is being able to rip people off and Pay Pal is doing nothing about it.

Paypal is a payment processor, you choose your seller, paypal give you some limited buyer protection but its up to you to risk assess your transactions.

Don't buy from China websites or Social Media ads.

Paypals buyer protection is doing what they say they will do, refund you on return of item AND you can claim some of those return costs back again if you activated the 'return shipping on us' option before you made the transaction.

For an "esteemed advisor" you've made some assumptions that aren't correct and make me ponder the definition of "esteemed" on this site.

"Don't buy from China websites or Social Media ads." - I actually did a Google search for a particular item I was looking for and the site came up so it wasn't a social media ad that I clicked on - further when I did a WHOIS domain look up they made their site appear like a USA based organization, so I did my due diligence.

Let me give two examples from other payment processors that will highlight that Pay Pal should be doing more about companies like this.

Example #1: I have a friend who works for MBNA (Master Card) Fraud Department.  Her job is flagging purchases where payments are going to known fraudulent companies.  She then stops payment to that company and contacts the card holder to let them know that they've made a purchase from a possible fraudulent  supplier/website.

Example #2: I was sitting beside my Brother about 8 months ago and he made a purchase on his Visa for sports gear.  He logged into his Visa account the purchase wasn't showing.  Within minutes he got a call from the Visa Fraud department stating that they had flagged the purchase because the site was known for selling counterfeit items.

These are both example of payment processing companies that protect their clients.  With how many complaints exist against this company it's obvious that Pay Pal doesn't care about it's customers.  Yes I'll be getting a refund (after months of fighting) , but I'm still going to be out of pocket because I have to pay to send items back that are fraudulent (and I've never seen this "return shipping on us" option) because Pay Pal allows this company to continue to use them as a source of payment.  Pay Pal should be shutting payments down to this company.

In the future "esteemed advisor" you shouldn't make assumptions like you did in your reply to me; it's pitiful.  Kudos appreciated?  Definitely not with that type of response.

I would say it was good advice to point out that when you risk assess transaction you avoid scammers, or maybe you disagree? 

However thanks for confirming that you did actually buy from one of these.

Chinese Web Sites or on Social Media ads easy to spot (once you know the below signs) so buyer beware.

1. No return address on the returns policy............thats because the site will look as if its in your country (where they despatch goods from) BUT they will ask for returns to go back to China (returns depot) at a shipping cost nearly always more than the item is worth.
2. No contact telephone number............if you click on contact the most you will get is webmail or an email address.
3. No company address information.
4. Great looking items at bargain prices that turn out to be tat.

A little bit of research or coming here to ask FIRST would have saved you from being scammed.

HOWEVER you wouldn't need to much research to guess that the first 2 letters in the companies name that you purchased from HK = HONG KONG and if your geography isn't very good then that is part of China now.

So as an esteemed advisor you are more than welcome to the above advice on how to recognise them.

As for your examples totally pointless, paypal is NOT a credit card, they are a payment processor.

If you pay by card you read up on that cards protection.

If you pay by bank account you read up on any protection that they provide.

You pay with paypal you read up on their protection policy and see what cover they give you.

No one is saying paypal gives you more or less protection than a card, but if you want to USE paypal then the onus is on you to READ up on their cover first and then risk assess your transactions.

As for kudos don't worry about it, I already have over 40,000 so I don't actually need anymore.

The comment is only put on there to encourage forum members to leave it for each other if they give advice.

Wow - the fact that I have to spell out the assumption that you made is pitiful.

You make the same assumption in your last post.

I DID MY DUE DILIGENCE - I DIDN'T PURCHASE OFF OF A SOCIAL MEDIAL ADD AND I DID A TRACK ON THE WEBSITE AND IT CAME UP AS AN AMERICAN WEBSITE.

Maybe yelling it at you will make you understand that I didn't buy off a social media website.  So you starting off both posts by stating "Don't buy from social ads" is an assumption that I did.  You aren't replying to a generic post, you're replying to a specific post so that comment was directed at my situation.  So that's called an assumption.

WOW - more assumptions -  yes now the company is using the name "HK SOWEWAY INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS CO LIMITED"; however when my Pay Pal confirmation came in it was "SHENZHEN SOWEWAY INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS CO.,LIMITED" - I'm not a racist bigoted idiot so I didn't jump to conclusions thinking then Shenzhen couldn't be American company because although it's the name of a city in China it's also a family name.

This will be my last post as you're a waste of skin and a waste of time.  I will be cancelling my pay pal account as soon as this if over.

Obviously Pay Pal allows companies to continue rip off customers, so I will go back to using my Master Card or Visa online as those payment processing company actually care about their customers.

And it wasn't even "SHENZHEN SOWEWAY INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS CO.,LIMITED" that I purchased from, it was PPY Food.  Where's the "HK" in that... so more pointless advise.

And "guessing" is the same as making an assumption "esteemed advisor" - learn to use a thesaurus.

Did PayPal ever resolve it? Same exact thing is happening to me right now. The worst thing is I’ve been waiting since June for a “resolution”

No it was never resolved.  Pay pal closed the ticket because Canada Post returned the item to me (without any explanation of why it was returned) and while I was trying to sort the issue out with Canada Post, Pay pal closed it and left me no way of reopening the issue.  So I'm out the money, I'm really disappointed in how the resolution process works with pay pal.

I hate to say it, but assume that you're out your money.

I have been conned exactly the same as many others, in exactly the same way. I did as was instructed and followed the resolution process. A great deal of time and effort was involved. I returned the item to China. Posted copies of lable and tracking number.  PayPal didn't accept tracking details and closed the case. THATS IT! I have no recourse. Cannot update details or progress matters, THATS ME RIPPED OFF!.   Why are PayPal still paying the fraudsters money? So much for PayPal guarantees. Worthless. Two things I won't be doing from now on. Dealing with China, and using PayPal.

I did order a family barbecue as they listed and showed in their advertising in facebook but it cane like a dollar store item they scam and fraud unfortunately i couldn’t do anything i wrote to them with no help and care shame on PayPal to deal with this scammer
