So I want a code for a digital item that is one-use only for a video game. (Destiny 2 emblem called System of Peace) and it was worth 225 and I sent 150 to him her received it and we used the Family and friends payment method. He sent me the code but it was fake. I annoyed him to tell him cause he was ignoring me. Eventually, he sent another code, this time it gave me the notice of it already being redeemed. I told him and he said, "It hasn't though". Now I'm offering him 250 with Buyers protection as another payment for him to send me it? Is it worth it and will I be covered to get a refund if he doesn't help me? I don't want it to be a Fraud.

So you already paid 150 to some scammy seller for some useless or redeemed game codes and now you’re gonna shell out 250, even though as goods and services?

This is reckless use or misuse of PayPal services. lol I can see why PayPal be banning people hardcore and don’t tell them why. And why customer services may at times lose patience with people on the phone because misuse of PayPal services. Any service will discontinue services for reckless use.

If you pay as goods and services you do get buyer protection.

This person is obviously a scammer. Why would you give him more of your money? If someone tells you it's safe to cross the street and then you almost get hit by a car (the light was green and it wasn't far away), would you trust that person with your life again? I hope not. Even if, by some slight chance, you got a working code, you would have paid him more than the code is worth! I hope you haven't already offered and paid him more money. The payment protection would not cover the money you already lost, even if it covered any further money you send/sent this person. It doesn't sound like you knew the person. Friends and Family is what the service is called. He fits into neither category.
