Lightsaber scam YIN <removed>

Hi,

I have been a victim of a classical scam, where I ordered "METAL LIGHT SABER" from colorful hairs:

https://colorful-hairs.com/collections/hot-sale/products/copy-of-7-color-transformations-50-off-disc...

I have received a cheap plastic toy (1$ worth) which was not properly packaged and got broken on the transit! The seller was not answering on both paypal account Email nor on his website. I opened a paypal dispute and I was instructed to send it back (to china) where the costs of sending were much higher than the actual product. I have also seen that the address is invalid:

Address where I should send it:

<removed> Shenzhen, GUANGDONG Province 518000 China

I really don't understand how paypal can be on the side of scammers. They also promise this on their website:

"WE PROMISE THAT OUR PRODUCTS AND PICTURES WILL BE 100% IDENTICAL. IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH THE RECEIPT OF THE GOODS, YOU CAN APPLY FOR A REFUND AND DO NOT NEED TO RETURN THE GOODS. YOU CAN USE PAYPAL TO PAY AND PAYPAL WILL PROTECT YOUR MONEY. "

I mean, are you kidding me! Can anyone help?

Ivan

fell to the scam as well... got 2 plastic toys that are probably worth like 5 bucks each, tops, instead of the 45$ products i paid for... What are we all doing right now about this? did anyone get paypal involved?

I got Paypal involved as soon as I tried to cancel the order and the vendor didn't reply to any of my emails.

They were useless, I could only get refunded if I posted the item back.

Then I got my back involved and just got a credit reversal, so have been refunded in full.

I too got scammed!
The worse thing is:Paypal does nothing to stop these kind of operations.
I don't trust them with my creditcard anymore.
They are well aware of the sellers actions but still they keep supporting him/her/them!
It's a disgrace  realy.
They got me pinned down in a narrow situation from left to right, up and down!
Send it back? Retour costs on my account? Refund shipping cost..........possibly? yeah sure!
Thanks Paypal for.................closing your eyes and doing nothing!

Just like the rest of you I fell for the 100% PayPal protection guarantee, I have just escalated and will now join you in playing the waiting game.

For me no refund means the end of me using PayPal, I'll spend a little more time filling out forms at checkout for my credit card and know that I will be protected.

Has anyone contacted their local media fraud investigator news tv show, it would be interesting to find out how often PayPal lets this kind of thing happen with sellers using the PayPal guarantee and then doing a bait and switch and PayPal doing little to nothing about it, how many sellers are doing this, what types of items, how often, does PayPal ever cancel an account or do they just say you got caught this time and try not to get caught next time.

When enough info came out about Facebook being complicit in the 2016 US Election Fraud the stock took a big nose dive, what do you want to bet the same thing happens to PayPal if this goes public enough.

@MrTraineeYes people are getting their money back off PayPal but not without a fight. See my posts above. I phone PayPal after I got automated case emails saying to return the item. I wasn't going to play that game, especially with a fraudster criminal. Tell PayPal this, point them to this thread. Report the crime, and tell PayPal it is a recorded crime. In the UK you can use Action Fraud (www.actionfraud.police.uk) to get a crime ref number.

Good luck, stick with it and don't let them off the hook.

Thanks, what I did was this: reported issue about item not being as described. Escalated to PayPal. Added links to the YouTube video, this community thread and the archived item website that someone here added. Then they asked me to ship the item back to the seller. I replied that I don't intended to pay delivery services for a scammer to get his item back. I got refunded. It was actually somewhat a smooth experience 🙂

I've been done too and p.p. won't refund as I need to spend £40 to return the item as the seller will not respond to any thing! And p.p. said it is a real address!
