Payment void??

So I made an order on a website using their 'guest checkout' feature, to checkout faster.. and of course I used Paypal to pay for the order(I always prefer to use Paypal when shopping online).
It directed me to the Paypal website, so I logged in.. and then clicked 'buy' or the equivalent. When it took me back to the website I was purchasing from, instead of getting a confirmation I got an error message.. and since I didn't log in but rather checked out as a guest, I have no order ID or anything as proof of the purchase. I've checked my bank account and the money has been taken out of my account also 😞
When I went back to Paypal to try and figure out what was going on, I noticed this transaction didn't show up in my list of transactions either. But I did get the following notification from Paypal:
On _____ 2020, you authorized a payment of EUR _____ on your card xx-____. If the payment is voided for any reason, the pending amount won't be charged. It may take a few days for this to show on your card statement.
(I've blanked out certain parts relating to my order). Can anyone please explain to me exactly what this means? Why have they taken the money when I have nothing to show for the purchase? Do I need to contact the company, my bank or Paypal?
Thanks in advance!!

If you paid as a guest buyer and did not log in to your paypal account then it won't show in there.
When you pay a company (rather than an ebay seller or individual), then it is often pending until that company processes your order and captures the pending payment.
If they don't process that order and capture the pending payment then the pending status times out at 30 days post-payment.
If you need to open a dispute for a 'guest buyer' transaction then you can.......
1. Phone Paypal customer services and see if they will open one for you (difficult at the moment due to covid)
OR
2. Contact your card issuer for a chargeback.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
