Shpock

So today I agreed a purchase on Shpock. I sent the money £160 after chatting with the seller who seemed really nice and down to earth. After I had made the payment (40 minutes later), I get a message from Shpock saying the user has been suspended so don't send money or recall money. I try to recall with paypal but they have just emailed saying "the payment was authorised" - basically tough!!!

Absolutely seething that they haven't even looked into this, just sent a standard email after hours and now I need to ring them tomorrow to challenge their decision. Anyone else had this?

Do you pay using the friends/family option and if not then why did you open a dispute for unauthorised instead of 'item not received'?

Only by opening one for unauthorised you were telling paypal that your paypal account had been hacked and the transaction made without your consent, when they checked IP addys and devices then they would see you did make the transaction and the dispute would be closed.

Oh ok I was unaware. So do I need to make a claim for item not received then?

Thank you so much.

Well as you haven't confirmed which way you paid i can't advise, i asked if you used the family / friends option and you didn't say.

Anyway you are only allowed x1 dispute per transaction so you can't open another one.

All you can do is phone customer services and say that you opened the wrong one by mistake and see if they will open the correct one for you (they don't always).

But that is only if you did NOT pay using family/friends, if you did then you can't open any dispute (apart from unauthorised) as you have no buyer protection.
