Somebody entered my paypal using a remote access software and executed 2 payments of USD 211,94

On December 24th early in the morning (about 3:00) unknown people entered via remote control (not clear how) my workstation (imac) and used a Chrome Browser to access one of my accounts with credit card payment. I just noticed the screen light of the workstation became brighter and thought an nothing bad about it. This morning (December 25th - again in the same hour, around 3:30 a.m.) I noticed the same effect. I also noticed that something moved on the screen. So I realized "someone" had my chrome browser (with an open google account - google loves to know people "connected") and inside that chrome it was "working" with my paypal account having just that email address as email account (but not the same password of course).

According to my paypal recent activity history I could see that "somebody" made 2 payments (at Dec 24th) of USD 211,94 to the email addresses:

Transaction ID:15N191226B5510025

Card statement: "PAYPAL *CONSOLATAWA"

and

Walter <removed>

Transaction ID:9PS30028WV854094J

Card Statement "PAYPAL *WALTER3"

Of course I do not know those people and I have no intention to give them any money.

Very strange:  No Paypal confirmation email messages were issued on those paymants!

What I did: Right now I changed the password to that account, I removed the credit card from that paypal account.

And of course I went offline.

What can I do in order to save my money? I suppose those payments were "organized" using the new feature "request money" thus sending a request via

Click Report a problem in those two transactions and select Unauthorized Transactions. The concern is if PayPal sees that it came off your IP address there maybe nothing you can do unless you have convincing proof that someone entered your account via remote access. If the charges are through your card or bank account file disputes with them.

Turn your wifi off on the desktop if you're not using it through the wifi menu.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Thank you for that hint!

However Paypal did not issue any confirmation email on those payments. This is an anomaly.

I cannot proof anything now on 2 feet.

And I entered a transaction but I could not find any "dispute" button inside that payment (from activities) in the panel.

Can you or somebody help me there please?

However I will contact the bank (yes it was a credit card payment).

Regards
