Hello.
I just have to share this with you. I'm pretty p-off.
2 Months ago, I bought an item on AliExpress.com. It's like the chinese eBay for Western buyers.
I paid by PayPal and was promised that the item would be delivered by EMS.
Days and weeks passed, I never saw an item.
I mailed the seller and he kept saying he sent it and sent me a tracking number.
The tracking number was fake, it didn't work at all, So I opened a dispute.
After some chit chat, I upgraded it to a claim and waited for PayPal to investiage the claim.
The seller added some information, including the fake tracking number.
After 30 days had passed, PayPal concluded that the seller was right, since he submitted a tracking number.
WHAT THE FUDGE !? Can someone just submit a fake trackingnumber and win a claim ?
Didn't the PayPal team take the time to enter the tracking number into the EMS site to discover it was fake ??
I am really really dissapointed by the buyer protection of PayPal.
I never got my item and this **bleep** big time.
Next time, I will also just supply some random numbers and documents too, if that gets my money back
PayPal staff/crew: Feel free to contact me. I have all the details you need to prove you I have never ever received the item and was scammed.

I don't understand how this happened to you. Can you submit the tracking number to this forum? Did the tracking reference the package was held at customs? Did it reference any customs fee that you had to pay?

Did AliExpress not offer you an escrow on this purchase? Did you at least leave feedback for the transaction stating he/she is a scam artist?

The escrow service of AliExpress is complete bull**bleep**.
The guy already got the money before the package was even sent. That makes no sense at all, but AliExpress.com's customer service is really bad too.
They hardly speak any decent English and all you get are automated replies.
Yes, I left negative feedback for the transaction and I even opened a dispute on their own website, but the 'mediator team' only replied 'we are investigating this issue' and 1 MONTH later they mailed: 'do you still need help?' and thats all I ever heard from them.

I don't understand this at all. I have never seen PP side with a buyer when the shipping info is completely bogus. Have you actually phoned PayPal, asked to be transferred to a U.S. call center, and asked a security specialist about this situation? Seriously, something is really wrong with this situation. I would highly recommend you keep bumping this thread until a moderator notices it.

No, I haven't phoned PayPal yet. Thanks for the tip ! I will do so if no moderator will reply here.
Just in case someone thinks I made up the trackingnumber myself, please see these screenshots:
PS: I'm not from the US, but from The Netherlands. The reason I am posting here is that this is the only official PayPal forum on the net, but appears to be mainly for US users. Still, I hope someone of the PayPal staff can help me out here.

Hi Freekers,
I'm sorry you've had a bad experience. I absolutely recommend calling Customer Solutions to file an appeal. Mistakes do happen, but the appeal process is in place so when that happens, information can be reviewed.

Thanks for your reply, Olivia.
I already filed for an appeal.
The outcome after 14 days was exactly the same: Since the seller had provided a VALID tracking number, I should have received the item, so he was right.
Is it normal that PayPal doesn’t check tracking numbers, even when filing an appeal ?

Did you pay with a credit card? If so contact your credit card company and file chargeback. You will WIN~!
Ebay is seller oriented there is no real Buyer's Protection except disputing with your credit card immediately.
I'm going down right now to dispute 2 transactions.
