Request Money to split ticket purchase with a friend

I bought 4 tickets to a show and want to request a friend to pay their half. 

The request money form warns that there are fees for requesting money. 

The fees page says that there is no fee for personal payment requests where the payment is made from the PP acount or checking account. 

Can I request money without being charged the fee?  Or do I have to send him a note asking for him to Send Money to me?
