Text Message Authentic?

Just received a text message  late evening asking me to verify myself immediately on PayPal.verifynow.co.uk as there have allegedly been a number of unsuccessful sign in attempts.  Is this message genuine?  I've logged in on my pc with no problem and there appears to be nothing out of place.

Thank you so much Kernowlass.  They didn't use my name in the text and i think that was what alerted me in the first place.  I ignored their live link to 'verify myself immediately'and just deleted the text.  Happy my insincts are still working!  Cheers

Firstly how did that email address you? If it was not by your full name then it would be a spoof.

Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email to ''cancel'' the transaction then again it would be a spoof.

If there was a problem with your account paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.

I just got one too. When i clicked on the link it looked just like PayPal but it wanted all my details to be completed (including my back account) all over again. The message was this: "There have been a number of unsuccessful sign in attempts to you PayPal. Click the link and verify yourself immediately. http://bit.do/Verifypaypal" I thought it all very odd so i shall delete it.

Exactly the same as my text message so yes - best deleted.  If emailed on the pc I usually pass on to OneNote rather than open it.  As it was a text I couldn't do that but on my settings I don't allow emails coming onto my mobile and have that setting in my PayPal account so was a bit wary from the start.  What a world!
