Payment Pending until a copy of Western Union Transaction is recieved??? PLEASE HELP

Hello, I desperatly need some help/advice here.

My boyfriend is selling his car and recieved an email off someone who wanted to pay through paypal as he was unable to come and pick the car up. This was fine by us as he said he was sending a haulage company to pick the car up. This morning we recieved an email off paypal to say he had sent payment but the payment was pending. I then got an email again off paypal stating that the money wouldn't be released into our account until we sent a copy of a transaction receipt from Western Union has been recieved.

We then got an email off the guy saying that he needs to pay the haulage company and can't do so as he is in the Navy so could we do this for him!! He didn't ask us to do this before sending the money. We have advised him that we can't do this as he is wanting us to pay out of our own money £550 and we just don't have the money spare to do so and plus I wouldn't do this anyway and shouldn't be expected to.

I have told the gentleman that we can't do this for him and that if he can't pay them himself he needs to cancel the transaction. He is saying he can't cancel the transaction as the payment has already been confirmed, yet nothing is showing in my paypal account for me to cancel it either.

What can I do???

Hi there, I feel for you guys i am having the same problem quite possibly with the same person. Said he was a marine officer and was buying the car for his dad as a birthday gift. I sent him invoices and the payment was made within 20 mins but like yours was being held by PayPal. He then dropped the bombshell that he wanted me to stump up £900 for his pick up agent through Western Union to then collect the car. Told him i was unable to do this and he threatened taking legal action and said i had promised to do this for him. I've not got a solution for you as yet but i have just emailed PayPal explaing the situation and i am awaiting a response. I would recommend you doing the same and hope they can nail this sucker!!!! Really annoyed with myself for falling for it but am desperate to sell my car and went along with it. I know i havn't been much help but it's comforting knowing you are not alone and seeing your problem on here confirmed my suspicions that i had from the start.

We were in the same situation.

I did some research on here and have seen a few responses from paypal saying that they would never ask someone to make a payment through western union.

I just don't know what to do as now I am having problems with my paypal account and am concerned that my accounts may have been accessed.

Pay the courier??? He`s in the Navy??? problems with paypal account??? change your paypal password quick...

Hey there, FSH is most likely correct. If someone is sending you a payment, then look into your PayPal History Log. If you see the payment there with the status completed then you know you have it. Someone asking you to advance money to them so that they can buy the item from you or with the promise to return a larger amount is most likely a scam.

Wow! I am shocked as well, i cant believe i fell for it. I'm trying to sell my dads car through e-bay and "found" a buyer. He messaged me on my cell (according to wikipedia, area code was from St Petersburg Florida)  that he wants the car. I planned to ship the car myself but he insisted he had some shipping agent that would pick up the car. The buyer than e-mails to tell me he's buying the car for his father and says the agent only accepts WESTERN UNION money transfer. Apparently he cant access western union and requests me to pay for the shipment, that he wud pay back.

 Just two hours ago I received six e-mails from paypal and ebay and from the buyer. Something was fishy. The price on the email was not the revised price :S and that the payment was PENDING but would NOT appear on my account :S The money was on hold until i sent $600 through Western Union to this address :

I was suppose to scan a copy to paypal and ebay and to the buyer. I checked my ebay account, it had no change what soever, i checked paypal account, no activiy as well.

Also, the text messages and e-mails, came from the same name and e-mail but it seemed it did not come from the same physical person. The guy's name is Jerry Pezzack.

Thank you guys for the relief!!! This just couldnt be real..... I was actually thinking about the opening hours of Western Union, **bleep**.

Like i said before in my previous message where i made an offer to you including paypal surcharges, i have someone(a shipping company to be precise) who will handle the pick up from you, i will be needing the exact location/address/date&pick up time for the vehicle, in order to make arrangements with my shipping company for the pick up. I will be adding their transportation charges to the total amount i will be paying you, i would need you to help me transfer their charges to my shippers via western union once you get my payment confirmation from paypal telling you that the payment has been made......I am buying this car for my dad while i was trying to book/schedule a pick-up with the agent, i was told to pay upfront before they can make the booking, and they only accept Western Union Money Transfer as their payment method which they don't accept PayPal or  Bank Transfer and i tried to send the money online but i couldn't as am having some difficulties with it.  I don't just know why maybe because am on the sea that is why Western Union website occur this error with network connection and there is no way i can find a Western Union agent to make the transfer to the pick-up agent, Please i want to inform you that i will be adding the agent fee's to your payment am about to process, Pick up agent charged $600 that has include insurance and all of that. Please am really so sorry about this and i hope you can do me this favor which i will really appreciate it so much if you can help me with it... So can i include the sum of $600 with the car payment then after i have made the payments you will then have to send the $600 to my pick-up agent through Western Union Money Transfer, this i would have done myself and not bother you but for the fact that i can't do it right now, I hope you will please give me this chance to make the payment with the pickup fee of $600 and once the payment has been confirmed then you will have to send the $600 to the agent for pickup.  I will really do appreciate it so much if you can do this for me. i am having the same problem but worse, a person emailed me saying he wanted to buy my iphone like that day for £300 i accepted and now paypal emailed me saying he sent the funds but they were pending until I posted the item and sent them a copy of the receipt (new policy apparently) like a total idiot I did and now I got a email at like 12am stating a error occurred and they wanted me to post £300 by Weston money transfer and 600 pounds that they took from the buyer would be credited as soon as I done this now i rused but now have lost 300 pounds/iphone4 as i believe it was fake even though they were using a paypal email  i dont know what to do as from now as its on its way to niegea and i stll have no payment. any ideas in what to do?

Its hard to understand what happened by reading your comment, I figure that you sold iphone for £300 to nigeria buyer, then received email from paypal payment pending, (check email received and click reply to check where it goes to), theres no new policy and you should have been suspicious, (never send anything without pay), who sent u email at 12am requesting £300 by Weston money transfer? I assume u never did send money via western but you posted phone anyway, was it recorded delivery? Your best option will be to contact your local post office, they may be able to stop delivery and help, u can also try Ebay or Paypal, Report to police, all should advice you, or swollow ur pride and move on, sorry. 

Ps: report suspicious emails to spoof@paypal.com and wait for reply,

Yeahh, i had the same exact bs e-mail. I just wonder if these guys have any feelings that they are robbing $600 off someone's money...sad people...
