HELP! Bank account number verification (HSBC CANADA) problems!

This is nonsensical. I change my password every month for security, and it asks for my bank account number each time, which I enter correctly and move on. For some reason, it isn't working right this time.

 

*I entered the 12 digit account number (XXX-XXXXXX-XXX) as displayed when I log into my HSBC account, and it gave me an error and told me to enter the full number.

 

*I reentered the 12 digit number, but this time without the dashes... (XXXXXXXXXXXX) and again same error.

 

*I this time used the three digit institution number first (XXX-XXX-XXXXXX-XXX) but same error.

 

*Now I tried the five digit transit number first (XXXXX-XXX-XXX-XXXXXX-XXX) but again the same error!

 

This is really annoying. I retried the five digit transit number, then the three digit institution number, and then the 12 digit bank account number from the HSBC internet banking page... but this time WITHOUT the dashes, and again I get the same problem.

 

So what the heck am I doing wrong? I have two tries left, so it is quite frustrating. I have *never* had this problem before.

I already tried but they just gave me the same number as the one listed when I log into HSBC.

 

I now have one try left.

 

Does anyone know if it makes a difference if I add the dashes or not? If possible, could someone try changing their password and let me know?

 

Does it matter if you use the dash sign? Or should I just be entering the numbers?

 

Also I noticed that the last three digits in my bank transit number and the first three in my account number are redundent, which is what the problem could be.

 

But I am afraid to take another chance... I guess I will wait till 8pm on Sunday when the paypal helplines are open.
