I placed an order on Amazon and had it canceled the same day. The authorization charge went through but now the "Secure Card Purchase" is showing as pending because I canceled the order and the purchase won't go through. This was on December 7th, it's been five days and I still haven't gotten the money, $278.98, back into my account. I'm worrying because it's a lot of money to be put on hold and I also have to pay for groceries and bills soon with that money.
Do I just keep waiting until it cancels/voids itself? I've read that sometimes it takes a long time, what should I do? Please answer my question, any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have no answer but am wondering the same thing. I placed an online order and they double billed it. I immediately asked about it with the merchant and they denied the double billing. Paypal said, yes...billed twice. So I cancelled the order completely. Wondering how long before all this money is put back in my account!

I'll join in this thread, hoping that we ALL get a response. I purchased something on tigerdirect.com and cancelled the order about two hours later over the phone. Tigerdirect now shows the order as cancelled, but the transaction in paypal still shows as pending?
I simply wanted to cancel and re-order the correct item, but don't want to have the hassle of spending double the funds at this moment while I wait for the transaction to clear and the money to be returned to my account.
Let's hope someone gives us a reply!

Sorry, I have no information to help you. I'm in the same boat. Maybe if someone at PayPal sees an overwhelming response here, then something will be done about it.

I am in the same boat.
I placed an order with Hot Topic yesterday during a time when they were having site issues. I received an authorization of pending payment from Paypal but nothing from Hot Topic. I called them yesterday and they did not show an order for me. I called again today and they still say there is no order. When I log into my account there, there is an order but I cannot access it. The order number is not in the same formula as my other order numbers in my account record.
So, all I want to do is cancel that authorization for payment for the (apparently) nonexisting order but I don't see any way to do that.

I have the same problem as well.
I ordered snowboarding pants online, and they said I wouldn't get them until the 9th of January. So i cancelled it. I got cancellation emails from the website and everything (Dck's Sporting Goods) but my bank statement and paypal still say pending on them.
Hope someone finds out how to get these out of the pending section so i don't get billed in the future!

I'll join the parade. Same problem here with Dell. I cancelled an order because of delays. Dell agreed and did not accept payment yet it remains 'pending'. There is no 'Cancel payment' option for this transaction. Dell says call PayPal. Paypal says call Dell. Where exactly IS my money then ?? I see numerous posts about this problem so PayPal must KNOW its an ongoing issue.

Had something similar happen.
I made an order to Pizza Hut online and was charged however they didnt have the wings I ordered along with my pizza so they cancelled the order I placed online and changed my order using the same single use card to a order without the wings.
The one pending went through 4 days later however I still had another pending (The cancelled one) I called PayPal and the issue was fixed in 15mins.
