I can't close my account

I've read around for a long time now looking for answers and this is not the only day doing it and yet I am STILL not able to close my paypal account. I've looked through my transactions since this account was first opened and every single one of them is complete. I've checked my bank statement and the most recent transaction i have made using paypal is there on my bank statement and the money gone. On top of this i've cancelled all re-occuring payments which were going through paypal .

After all of this I still get the error 'This account cannot be closed until the funds transfer from your bank account is completed.' There are no funds transfers to be completed so why do i get this?

Can someone just give me a solid answer this is becoming really tedious, Thank you in advance.

I have tried to close my account many times, only to be refused. I have zero balance and no outstanding transactions

I have had emails for  'Reset password' requests which weren't mine and also 'refused payments' for Items that are nothing to do with me

.

I have phoned up to get it closed by an operater who didn't know what I wanted or didn't want to know, most infuriating.

The screens to follow to close accounts lead nowhere, or  information on screens tell you to follow links which just don't exist.

My saving grace against potential fraud is that I never use Paypal and also my card has expired which leads to further emails requesting me to update to another. Maybe my account will be closed when it has been dormant for a few years.

Paypal  must be getting something seriously wrong when there are so many complaintsabout  trying to close accounts also taking into account that only a small percentage will bother to write a review.

Hopefully it will be closed when it has been dormant for a few years!

If all else fails in trying to close the account for good. Contact paypal personally and request to have the account closed. Due to internet security issues in our world today it is never advisable to leave an account dormant hoping it will close itself out. I would also recommend that any bank accounts attached to it are closed as well by your bank to prevent any issues that may occur in the future if someone inadvertanly phished you etc...

Personally i would wait a while anyway as if you need a refund for any reason it will go to your balance and you may not be able to access it.

Also the payment may have left your bank account but it takes 5-7 days to process through to paypal even though your seller is credited instantly.

Paypal is either seriously incompetent (I think so), or deviously unethical... their menu system sends you in circles, their Help pages tell you to go to places that don't exist, their customer service --- O-M-G --- is one of the worst on the planet... responses are non-useful and suggest that the CSR agent didn't even read your message entirely.

I cannot -- despite extreme efforts -- close my account or unlink my bank.  The run around should be criminal, given this is a financial institution that has your personal data.  Phone calls, emails --- the responses I get are laughable.

I HATE PAYPAL.  It is a terrible organization.

So, I've put a block on all Paypal debits from accessing my bank account and will eventually close my g*ddam bank account just to put Paypal in my rearview mirror.

Disgusted.
