When making a purchase if your ppal account is empty, the payment will come from your card/bank if it is linked to your ppal

From what I remember there is no charge

I signed up for Paypal in 2006, and sold some stuff on ebay.  I was charged for using ebay and paypal's services.  That's fine but the next month when I did not use Paypal or Ebay I was charged an additional ammount.  I have no idea why they would not just charge me in the month before.  For this reason I removed my bank account details from paypal.  They sent me reguarly emails asking for their £3 odd which I eventually paid after 6 months to a year of emails.

I see no reason to set up a direct debit between paypal and my account.  Paypal incentivise it by offering to make transaction free payments to family and friends.  I have linked my debit card so I can sell something on ebay, I hope this nonsence won't happen again.
