Gumtree Australia says something wrong with my paypal account

I linked my paypal account to gumtree but when I try to pay the seller, gumtree says "there might be an issue with your paypal account" and I can't pay. I already tried unlinking and relinking my account but it didn't work. Is this a gumtree problem or a paypal problem?

I have the latest iteration of this on my main account, and on a BRAND NEW PayPal account created today.

I have cleared web browser cache, and used Incognito mode in Chrome.

I have attempted to pay in Firefox browser as well, with the same results.

• My PayPal account is linked in Gumtree, just unlinked it and re-linked it, to be sure.
  
• Seller sends a Request which I click on [Review Payment]
  
• I get a window asking if "I'm Ready to Pay", which I click on.
  
• I get a Paypal Error (not a Gumtree error): "Your Paypal Link has expired, please visit your profile settings to relink your account."
  
• Going to the Profile Settings, my Paypal account is now UNLINKED!
  
• I Relink my account again, and so the process goes, around and around, over and over, I cannot pay.
