To downgrade from a business account to a personal account, contact customer service for assistance:
Click HELP at the top menu, scroll down to click CONTACT US, and then scroll down to click CALL US.

I clicked that link last week, and learned there is "Cancel" or "Revert" -- no going back, even if you don't complete every screen of the sign-up. Your account will *immediately* be assigned a "Merchant ID" and flagged in the database as a Business Account.
I tried with 2 different managers last week to revert my account back to a Personal account, with no success.
This week, I surrendered to the process and completed the transition to the Business account, but today a recurring payment to my account failed (it worked last month.)
I hope they will be able to resolve this issue, would you want to have to ask supporters to re-apply their recurring donations?

Customer services 'should' be able to downgrade it for you, surprised that they didn't.
However if you didn't want a business account then you may consider closing it and then opening a personal paypal account?
Advice is voluntary.

I have accidentally made my personal account into a business account. which has resorted in closing my paypal cash card account as well. is there any way to revert this? i have made the wrong account into a business account

Call early, during business hours, west coast time to get a US rep. Say "Live Agent" to the automated recording.

Hello, I’ve been trying to downgrade from a business account as it’s causing me problems with people sending me money. I’ve tried using the help and contact tabs, and the email won’t let me pick the topic I want and the call centre automated machine keeps on trying to update my account details, not the type of account I want. Any suggestions?
