My husband and I use the same PayPal account. I'd like to set up the Google Authenticator app for two factor authentication however I'm new to this whole concept and I don't understand how we'll both be able to access the same PP account when using 2 different phones. Both of our email addresses (which are gmail addresses) are valid logins to the account. Can we both have the Google auth app on our respective phones associated with our personal gmail accounts and get into PayPal using the code the app produces? Or will it want the code from the app using the primary email address?

Hello @Temp20231217S
Congratulations for your first post in the PayPal Help Community!
I see you're looking to set up Google Authenticator app for two factor authentication. In PayPal, each individual must have their own PayPal account and for the safety and security of the network, account should not be shared between the individuals. You should each use separate accounts in order to use PayPal.
Hope this information helps you,
Bindu

This is an absolutely horrible policy on the part of PayPal. If my bank, my mortgage company, even the IRS!, can allow two people access to a single account, why can't PayPal manage this? What do you do about accounts under the name of a Trust, where each Trustee has authority to act independently?
Please go back to your earlier policies. Your current policy does not increase security. It merely encourages users to disable two-factor authentication.

I completely agree with TedHopp. A married couple or a business with more than 1 owner ABSOLUTELY NEEDS to have the option to access finances together. I am a webmaster for a 501c3, and being unable to have 2 people do 2FA has literally shut us down for days right now! It is an election year for us, and trying to change hands between new treasurers has been an absolute nightmare because the former treasurer has been physically unable to assist in making changes. You're forcing us to change payment system providers.
