Do i need to register my online business to be able to use PayPal payment?

Hi, 

I just created a business paypal account to receive payments through Shopify but i was asked for the business name, not my actual name so I put one, however it isn’t registered anywhere. I have only created my dropshipping online store days ago.. and i am worried i wont be able to transfer funds from PayPal account once orders come in because the business name isn’t registered… does that make sense?

Please advise. I am completely new and worried.

I understand you'd like to learn if you need to register your online business to ensure your PayPal and Shopify run smoothly. PayPal Business accounts are primarily for registered businesses, as you may be asked to supply this documentation in the future. When creating your account, please ensure your contact name is your legal name still. If you had accidentally created the account under just the business name and not your own, you'd want to close this one and create a new account. As long as the legal name on your account matches what's on your bank account, you shouldn't have any issues withdrawing. However, if you have a specific bank for your business, you can add that one as well.
