Hey all. I have 2-step verification on via Google Authenticator app. Please can someone explain to me how I choose a primary device (e.g. my phone), so that I don't have to enter 2FA code every time I open PayPal app?

That is totally not the point of what we're talking about...
We said that we WANT to use 2FA, we just don't want the iOS app to ask for FaceID AND 2FA because that forces us to close the app, open the password manager, copy the 6 digits code, and go back to PayPal to paste the code. We are asking for a way to "trust" the device, so that we don't need to perform this tedious process every single time.

I’m struggling with the exact same issue. It’s ridiculous! I’m using a passkey on my iPhone, I’m getting logged in with FaceID – which is already a second factor – and then I’m getting asked for my TOTP code as well.
Dear Paypal, there is no point in using a Passkey, when you have to enter the TOTP as well. It just drives me mad…
And then, when I deactivate 2FA completely, everything works fine on the iPhone, but on Desktop I’m getting asked to confirm my login in the paypal app – even though 2FA is turned off. Thats nice from a security perspective but I prefer using a TOTP in the browser instead.
Long story short: Please accept the passkey on the phone as intended and don’t ask for any other verification. And use the other 2FA methods for devices without a passkey.

Hello @autosiast and @vd789,
Thanks for stopping by the Community!
I'm sorry to hear you're unable to use the Passkey only and are prompted to input a security code as well. If our Security System detects additional risk, you could still be prompted to enter a security code, even if 2-Step Verification has been deactivated. This is not something that can be overridden as it is intended functionality. For further assistance and to see if a report needs to be filed to the technical support teams, please reach out to Customer Support through one of the options here.
I hope this helps!

Couldn't agree more. The issue is exactly this and not only for Apple but also Android as well.
But no doubt someone will be along in a bit to tell us all how to completely turn off 2FA......
