Transaction generated a new address added to PayPal

Hi Forum Folke,

Made a purchase at BestBuy using PayPal as my payment method, and very shortly afterward received an email from PayPal:

"You added a new address.

This is just a quick confirmation that you added an address in your PayPal account.

Here are the details:"

Name

Address updated:

XXX Street Name

PKXYzxSDSGmlSrAQXSuCUzkzNczKiZcFZQWoNm

Town, State, Zipcode

I did nothing during this transaction to make any kind of address change.  It's still the correct basic address, but a long alphabetical character string was somehow  inserted between the street address and the town and State, making it a four-line address instead of three:

The bogus character string is the exact one that got added to my address.  As I said, I did nothing, entered nothing into data input fields at all, so I've no idea what this nonsense is, how it happened, what it means, what to do about it, or if anything even needs to be done.

In checking my PayPal account info, this additional character string appears nowhere.  Anyone have any idea what's going on here, and whether or not I should be concerned about it?  Do I need to close this account and open a new one?  Thanks for any input here, it's appreciated!

I just had this happen to me today. It would be nice to know if this is something that is triggered by Best Buy or PayPal - or - is it fraud? Obviously, resetting password and will monitor account, but would nice to know one way or the other.

Same thing happened to me today. I purchased something from Best buy for pickup, then I got email that I added a new address... When i checked my account, no new address. I believe it is a glitch...

I am not feeling the love on this one.  As soon as the transaction from Best Buy is completed, I will be closing my PayPal account.  Ridiculous how no one can explain nor remedy this "mini stroke" situation.  They (PayPal and Best Buy), as per all the posts in this chain, should have looked into this when they first became aware of it. If it's a glitch, fix it!  Then good luck trying to contact someone on PayPal with their automated crap!

Omg I'm having a panic attack. If it's a glitch I'll be calm. I totally agree I'm not dying over a glitch email I have to breathe and call them in the morning. Was everything okay?

I just had this happen this morning during the course of placing an order with Bed Bath & Beyond.  

I received an email saying "You added a new address". The details, however, are all the same, nothing added to it, no strange characters or anything like that. Not sure what they mean by my address being a "gift address", though. That's odd.

Anyway, according to Bed Bath & Beyond, my order has been placed, so all seems well on that end. However, just to be safe, I logged into PayPal and changed my password.

Out of curiosity, I googled that string of letters/numbers, with the quotation marks around it. Normally, if that line appears anywhere on the internet, that method will reveal where.  Amazingly, it came back with "No matches" other than this PP discussion board.  I hate to say it, but this incident is taking on an Evil Mastermind feel. 😬
