selling wine online with PayPal

I need to verify that buyer is at least 21. Can I add a custom form to the shopping card asking people to verify their age? How do I stop the "check out" if they're under 21?

Welcome to the Boards! There would not be a way to verify your customers age using PayPal because information pertaining to a customer's age would not be transmitted through the transactions details. Out of curiosity, may I ask why you're verifying age? There are certain types of sales that are not allowed under our Acceptable Use Policy. I recommend checking it out to make sure that you don't run into any problems. Here is a link to the policy.

thanks for your replay.

Age verification is required by law if you sell alcoholic beverages. Many wineries, or breweries don't even allow people under 21 to enter their site, which could be an option for the website I'm designing. 

I read PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy and it's still unclear to me if PayPal allows selling wine through a business account. I heard it is ok as long as the seller is licensed to do so, which is the case here. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You do have a good point when you say, "Many wineries, or breweries don't even allow people under 21 to enter their site."  I would advise you to please send contact information, business website URL and brief business summary to our PayPal Acceptable Use Policy email. They can better assist you with your questions in regards to your business model. I hope this helps.
