Alternate Address

Why is it so hard to verify an alternate shipping address?  I completed a request, Paypal sent me a letter with the confirmation number, but the instructions did not match what show on their website (one of their own links they said to go to came up as "out of date" on their website!).

I emailed customer support, and someone there sent me a nice reply, but again, where she tells me to go does not appear for me.  I am supposed to go to "Notifications" but that is nowhere on the main menu, and it's not under any of the tabs - ideas would be much appreciated.

I've told Paypal - and not too politely - that they need to make this process easier.  WAY too cumbersome.

I'm sorry that the link that was provided didn't work.  Some members experience issues with either the link or attempting to locate the page in their account.  If this is the case, log in and then enter this URL in your browser:

This should allow you to finish the process.

Thanks for the link! I used that and got to input my code, but now it's asking me to fax in the cover sheet along with the necessary documents. I'm assuming a photocopy of our ID, but what else?

I'm sorry the page didn't show you the information. 

The page that has the link to the cover sheet is supposed to list out the documents, but what we'll want you to fax in is a copy of:

1) Valid, government issued photo ID; and,

2) Proof of address, for the address in question (such as a bank statement or utility bill)

Wait so I am unable to confirm a work address for shipping? I don't want to ship 3,000 in computer equipment only to have it stolen by the apartment building managers, newegg only ships to confirmed addresses. I work at a bank and have already requested the code be mailed to my work address. I’m seriously tempted to adjust my credit card address myself to get around this process, and set my work as my home address.

I need to confirm my work address.  I don't have a bank statement or a utility bill for my work address.  Please provide some other suggestions for proof of address that would be logical for a work address.  And no, I don't have a business card... it's common for most people in a large company to NOT have a business card.  only the personnel that interacts with customers have business cards.  the rest of us poor fools just have to work and work and work without that tiny wallet sized card that proclaims our title.

Adrian - I work for a global company with more than 10,000 employees.  we don't all have business cards.  and the utility bill for our 11 story office building is certainly not in MY name. LOL.

These are the things I can provide:

A scan of my company photo ID.  It has my photo and the company's name but not address on it. As a cross reference,  I can also scan my driver's license so you can see the photos match (my driver's license has my confirmed paypal  home address). 

A scan of my health insurance card which has my name and the company's name, but not company address.

The only thing I have with the company's address on it is my offer letter.  It is on company letterhead and is addressed to me at my paypal verified home address.  I can scan that too.

In order for the document to be considered, it would need to include your name and the address you're attempting to confirm.  Unfortunately, none of those documents would meet those criteria. 

Keep in mind that currently a confirmed shipping address is not a requirement for a seller to be protected under our Seller Protection Policy - if you have a merchant who is adamant on only accepting a confirmed shipping address, let them know about the policy change and we can help them switch their settings around.
