Previously confirmed addresses now showing as unconfirmed

Hello all,

There have been quite a few topics on this issue recently so hopefully I can clear up any questions you may have on it.

Over the last week or two we have noticed an issue on customers accounts in which their previously confirmed address is now showing as unconfirmed. This is an issue we are aware of and have our engineers working to fix as soon as possible. As you can imagine, the PayPal system is very complex so we do not have a timeframe for this.

In the mean time I am sure some of you are worried about Seller Protection and how this issue impacts your coverage. In the past there was a need for a Seller to ship to a confirmed address in the Transaction Details to be covered under our Seller Protection Policy. This is now no longer needed. Shipping to a confirmed address is no longer a requirement under our Seller Protection Policy, you can post to buyer addresses in any of the 190 countries where PayPal is accepted and be covered.

The initial post from Paypal at the start of this thread was dated 6/24/10.  It has now been TWO WEEKS that engineers are supposedly "working" on this unconfirmed address glitch and there is still no resolution.

My home address has been confirmed for many years, however every single purchase I make shows us as 'unconfirmed' on the receipt.   I have to address this with every seller I buy from!

Paypal's lazy and slow response to the situation is a joke.  Funny how they can immediately access your funds and immediately debit your bank account (never any glitches there!) yet they have no urgency to resolve this unconfirmed address problem affecting millions of users.   PAYPAL GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!!

I called Paypal about this over a month ago when I had the same problem. The rep was very nice and we talked about what was going on. He confirmed with the tech team that it was a glitch and added my name to the list of those with the problem.

However I think some of you might be having another problem. This glitch is where it's just showing your address as unconfirmed only to the actual user (yourself). To everyone else (for example ebay sellers etc) it shows as confirmed to them. Even the Paypal rep who I spoke to said on his side it showed my address as confirmed. It's just glitching out so the owner of the account who is viewing the transaction details is seeing it as unconfirmed. I've bought several things from Ebay within this time period and never once had a problem. So I know for sure it's showing up just fine for other people.

It would still be nice if the problem was fixed. However like I said it's just mainly a problem for the actual account holder that is viewing their own information. To everyone else they see your address as confirmed just like normal.

I Noticed on 3 of my transactions that all 3 had the words Unconfirmed on the transaction page for my address. One of the business's I bought from have sent the item I ordered. But there are 2 to where they have not but it shows that they were paid.If I find out that these sellers have not sent me my eBay item because of this glitch I will be Pi$$'d at PayPal. SO FIX IT !!!!!!

I have found that when I look at my address information within my profile age, it does read as "Confirmed." So, I've taken a screen shot of this page and a link to this forum post and forwarded it to my seller who wished for a confirmed address. Still waiting to see if it's enough for him, but there's no other way around this problem at the moment.

I Freaked out last night, because a seller on ebay only sold me a $350 item, because I made sure that my address was confirmed or she wouldn't have sold it to me. So I looked in my address settings and it says "Home Confirmed" on  my transaction details, however it says "unconfirmed" in yellow letters. In the email receipt my address is labeled as confirmed.

Does the seller see whether I am confirmed or unconfirmed? She hasn't replied to my emails yet but oh well its Sunday so I'm just waiting.

Same here. I've been with Ebay and Paypal for many years. When I'm the seller it shows my address as confirmed, but when I'm the buyer, it shows my address as UNconfirmed....go figure.

Same thing here, and apparently for a lot of others, and it seems no one here really knows how to fix it! Guess I will need to try to get an answer from paypal customer service.

I ran into this. On my profile I had two addresses, the first being 'home / confirmed' and the second having no such notation. The transaction in which I noticed the 'unconfirmed' warning used the second address. What was the difference? The second address contained by middle initial, apparently created to match up with the name on the credit card I was using.

I have removed the address with the offending middle initial and have high hopes that this problem will not surface again. If I had any variations of my address, such as "north" rather than "n", I'd kill all but the first one.

If I am correct, this is deficient programming and is easy to repair. Adding a middle initial should have no effect on the status of an 'address'. Likewise, minor variations in an address such as "ST" vs "ST." should pose no problem.
