Can I transfer funds to a friend in Canada to her bank account without getting charged?

I want to send funds to a friends bank account via paypal. She lives in Canada. Do they do all the conversions of the funds before the money is sent as well?

Sending directly to a persons bank is not possible through PayPal because all payments are sent email to email or email to mobile phone number. You would need to send it to the recipient, and they would need to withdraw the funds to their linked bank account.

The only time Personal payments (Friends & Family) are able to be sent with no fees are when the payments are domestic and they are funded from either an available PayPal balance or a linked bank.

There is another option available to you. With PayPal Xoom you would be able to send to the recipients bank account directly with linked funding sources in your account. PayPal Xoom is not able to send payments that are funded with a PayPal balance.
