IS PAYPAL STILL A SAFE MEANS OF PAYING FOR PURCHASES ON LINE?

I have used paypal as a prefered method of paying for things i purchase on line for some years now..trusting it was safe reliable and easy to use......lately i seem to get more messages regarding my account..most i dismiss as false and not from paypal....I  check my account quite frequently to make sure its in order.....I  do not wish to spend all my time  jumping through so called security hoops...i do not like having to have my mobile phone to hand for a simple purchase  [ i work shifts  so i rarely use it] i mostly use my laptop if shopping and feel that one device should be more than enough to identify myself..  if a site such as paypal offers safe use of my information then i am more than happy to continue using their service as my prefered method...  My question is simple  can i continue to trust paypal ?     can i trust that paypal is going to continue to keep their services user friendly ?   not everyone wants to be plugged into every fashion trending device  ...  alarmist messaging  is quite annoying

My trust in PayPal is not as strong as it used to be. All the promises of guaranteed refunds sound good, until you want to use that service. Shopping on line now, is something that we have to do more than we used to do because of Covid-19. 

This is great news for those wanting to scam people and big money for those we trust, and don't want to believe that they would be part of the scam.

We are too eager to give all our personal details to those we trust and we believe that they would never betray us. 

But, Really? Where money is involved, you can't trust anybody.
