Is it secured to make a purchasing by using Paypal?

I'm purchasing something from the eBay, but somehow the seller told me to use Paypal instead eBay because of eBay tax fee?

Is it safe to use Paypal purchasing something privately? What if the seller doesn't ship the item or the item is totally different?

It is safe to use paypal to send payments BUT i would not trust any seller that tried to evade their Ebay fees by asking to pay that way.

They may ask you to pay via friends / family and then you would have 0 protection.

If the item arrived misdescribed then you would not be able to use the Ebay auction as proof of that as the payment would not be linked to that Ebay auction.

If the item was misdescribed you could only open a paypal dispute and not an ebay one and then would have to foot the return postage costs yourself.

Those are only a few of the things that may go wrong, i would pay using ebay checkout as per normal, it is of NO advantage to you to pay direct.
