I received an email from PayPal that I think is a scam. It looks like a legitimate email from PAYPAL confirming a payment to DEVCO FZ LLC for $34.25. When you press on the links for more info about the purchase or the seller info, it brings you to an internet site that is red with a warning of a scam site.
I checked my PayPal account, and there is no listing of the payment. I’m now scared that I may have introduced a virus by pressing on these links. is anyone aware of this issue?
Firstly if the email/text addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.
Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email/text to ''cancel'' any transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.
If there was a problem with your account Paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email or by downloading an attachment, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.
If you clicked the links contact PayPal asap and then change all passwords AND run anti virus If you didn't click links then BLOCK the email address and delete it
Same. Got the exact same email and amount. I didn't click on the links thanks to this forum, but checked my paypal account through my phone and no money was taken. Thanks.
