I used the debit card for a purchase at the local auto parts store yesterday and when I got home and checked my email i had 2 emails for transactions. I only used the card once. Upon checking my history on the paypal site it shows 2 transactions both pending and they have different id#'s Just wondering why it shows up twice for one use of the card. Did the parts store accidentally hit the button twice??

Hi thumpper23,

It's possible. The pending authorization should come off when the debit is completed. Either way, authorizations

expire after 5 calendar days.

Basically nothing you can do, at least from my experience. After 5 days the extra charge dropped off and everything went back to normal.

This is more frustrating...and seems as stupid as smoking ******

What is the point for a double withdrawal then 5 days (business days?) later the second one falls off?  I have a similiar situation where I had done one transaction for $50, and then a second one for +$44.   The $50 was cleared according to my bank, but the +$44 is still "processing".   I Will wait 5 business days.  But if one does not fall off after 5 days....

Please does anyone have the reason as to why this happens to help lower my frustration?  It would be appreciated.

This double charge can occur when a merchant swipes your card twice, or inputs your card number twice. Sometimes merchants use authorization holds to verify funds and you will see two transactions from the same merchant. The extra charge typically falls off after 5 business days. However, if it does post, I recommend disputing.
